Cat Clinic Of Seattle

This clinic is so close to my home I have used it despite having had three or four experiences with over pricing and curt treatment. When I have had to board my cats because my cat sitter was unavailable they are returned skinny and scruffy with knots in their fir. Often with extra charges for some ailment I never saw evidenced. The last time was the kicker when I had received an estimate for boarding by phone and when I took them in they asked for nearly double the price. I was leaving in 2 hours on vacation. I left them and said I would be back to collect them if I could find a sitter at this late date. I went back an hour later after some frantic phone calls and they charged me for a days boarding for 2 cats! Unbelievable! If there was a minus rating that would be more appropriate than the one star. Pros: Most expensive, least impressive. Cons: Overpriced and rude staff. more

We've experienced nothing but excellent performance by these people and in particular Dr. Nemec. We started going there 4 years ago following a very botched tooth removal from our previous vet in Bothell.\r \r She took one look at Tigger and said "I think he has jaw cancer", something our previous and long term vet completly missed. She took samples and did tests to confirm the diagnosis. Then we put him on a treatment plan to make his life more normal and comfortable. She felt he had about 3 months, but we followed her treatment plan to the letter and finally had to put him to sleep 6 months later. \r \r We take all the "kids" to Dr. Nemec, they absolutly love her, it's probbaly the baby talk she gives them. All you have to do say "lets go see Dr. Nemec" and we have a line for the kitty carriers. She seems more than just an educated vet, she has a 6th sense about these animals.\r \r RJ Humphrey more

We had been clients for many years when Dr Nemec first appeared as one of the (employee) vets. The owner then was Dr Freitag, whom we liked. There was also a third vet employed: a good man, compassionate, thorough and well-liked. When we brought our big grey cat in for some nutritional guidance (as in losing some weight at a sensible rate), Dr. Nemec looked not at the cat, but at the chart and gave us a recommended weight of 15 lbs and the number of calories per day necessary for him to achieve it. I was blown away. I said, 'That can't be right; look at him. He's 39? long.' She laughed and said with a condescending smirk hat still makes me grit my teeth,:"Oh, you owners; you always think your cat is special.? She then circled the weight and number of calories on a paper & sent us home. To my everlasting regret (and against my husband?s better judgment), I proceeded to feed him only that small number of calories; although I had sense enough to reject her target weigh more

I knew Carrie Nemec when she was much younger. She was not always the way she seems in these reviews. Her life back when I knew her was much happier than what it appears today. In any event, I aplogize for the Carrie Nemec you have met. If you knew her when I did, you would have a totally different view of her. I just finished almost 10 years of care for my pet at the Cat Clinic of Seattle (it probably would have been longer, but my cat was a stray and already had part of his life behind him when I got him). My pet was always well cared for with loving attention. In fact, when I first got him they diagnosed him with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (cat AIDs) and told me that it might affect his immune system later. They were right, that's what killed him. In between those two events they always provided high quality medical care and I always felt that my pet was in good hands. The vet was willing to answer all of my questions, even the ones I thought of after an appointment or ones to determine if an appointment was neccessary. There were lots of times that they said that we can take care of the problem at the next regularly scheduled appointment (my cat had diabetes so we were going every month or two).\r \r I don't know if the Cat Clinic specializes in anything other than dental work, but when more

ok this is the second time i've been here .. yes i'm an idiot i moved here recently and needed a vet for my babyso the 1st time i went my cat had swollen gums... the vet tried to guilt me into having his fangs extracted ..telling me " i was HURTING my cat" what are you kidding me .. i fished for tons of info asking about alternative procedures .. draning his gums around the infected fang .. asking for a specialist and the only answer i could get was no, there is no alternative and no specialist. so i let them take blood to see if he was a candidate for surgery .. which he was and then got a call the next day telling me to bring him in ... WAIT i DIDNT OK ANYTHING i kept him home .. and watched him for 3 days .. when the gum began to drain i was there to clean it out take care of him disinfect him and hold him ... yea he still has his teeth 2 YEARS LATER.so like an idiot i bring him back with his brother for a check up... here we go again with the f#** in Teeth... he's lost wait she say more

I took my cat here several years ago for a check-up and it was an average experience at best. Several weeks later I discovered that the Cat Clinic had released my personal info as I was recieving mail from the City about mandatory licensing of my indoor cat. I was outraged that they would give my information out. Recently my cat was not eating and after trying to get her in at another clinic (everyone was full) I returned to the Cat Clinic for an examination and b tests. The vet not only failed to introduce himself but never asked me my name and seemed to be pushing a particular brand of food. After the b test revealed my beloved cat has kidney failure, I was basically told that treatment was needed immediately but may be useless or I should put her down. In my extreme freak out at this info (I am incredibly in love with my cat), I failed to ask the right questions. After two days of deliberating and some serious research on the condition, I spoke to another vet at the Cat Clinic to try and get some of my questions answered. Though I greatly appreciated the time taken to speak with me on the phone, she was short with me, made me feel very guilty for not choosing to immediately spend the thousand dollars (that I don't have) for treatment that may or may not work and basically made me feel even more crappy about the whole situation. Instead of noticing a food allergy she diagnosed skin cancer! I highly recommend Dr. Romantowski of the Cat Clinic of North East Seattle, who runs a small, affordable and EXTREMELY CAPABLE clinic. Dr. Nemec should have her license revoked. She stinks! I am OUTRAGED that they can treat clients in such a peremptory manner (underlying message: ""if you don't like what we're doing, go somewhere else,"" ""We've been you giving you service, now don't bother us."" I get better service (no attitude) at Rite-Aid!\r \r The fact is that we've already spent about $2000 (estimate) and contacted them only when absolutely necessary, i.e., the vet techs half a dozen times.\r \r If the SALARIED techs didn't want to field questions, WHY CAN ALWAYS MAKE A SAME-DAY APPOINTMENT (usually within 1-2 hours)?? \r \r If these don't want to fax prescriptions, why are they UNWILLING to simply HAND them to clients (They COMPLAINED about having to do it)? Glad to do it myself.\r \r The receptionist Anne, saying she was the owner, told there were too many contact people (TWO) involved and too much misinformation being passed around"" (HUH?? The Cat Clinic is nice to you, but scratch the surface, and it's all...surface. Dr. Nemec, the unscrupulous co-owner (with her husband) of this clinic, allows her subordinates to belittle and engage in disparaging, insulting behavior, including telling blatant lies when convenient. Look past the surface ""niceness""! Imagine Leona Helmsley trying to pass herself off as Mother Teresa. An overweening, totally unwarranted sense of superiority, which she enjoys rubbing in the face of others. Manipulative, ""hard-as-nails""--on the inside--, and unscrupulous. She frequently asks you to do expensive procedures without medical justification. And she encourages an unhealthy, expensive dependence on their clinic. What little they tell you could find out easily YOURSELF. A 4-month relationship with the Cat Clinic of Seattle, where we spent an estimated $2,000 for a lot of ""grief"" (especially in the weeks that followed the hospitalization). The office manager Chris verbally and emotionally abused me because of my Asian ancestry. She treated me as if I were her indentured Filipino yard man. Then she lied and said she never yelled at me. I was upset for weeks after the incident. They charged us SIX days of expensive hospitalization when our cat stayed over only five days. Some of these people (Dr. Nemec, who calls the shots, in particular) are deeply ETHICALLY CHALLENGED. I waived some of the medical testing they had suggested with the qualifier, "unless, obviously, she looks like she needs it." Doctor Nemec seemed to take my displeasure at the wait along with my unhappiness with the increased estimate as a personal affront and decided that since I had a "hostile attitude" that Cat Clinic's hands were tied in the care of my cat. Unfortunately they waited until I returned and my cat was on the verge of death to inform me of this. My wonderful cat sitter who went to visit her while I was gone told me that she repeatedly told the staff that my cat looked very ill and needed more attention. As if all this wasn't enough Cat Clinic sent me home with medication for someone else's sick cat, an immunosuppressant that I have no way of knowing if they were giving to my cat in error. At this point I am looking into legal action against Cat Clinic and would advise anyone seeking vet care to seek elsewhere. more

There are serious problems with this clinic, namely:\r \r (1) They incorrectly prescribed a medication for my cat, risking his life. The levels of RBC induced shot up to dangerous levels. The never told me how long to continueusing this medication. This was very irresponsible.\r \r It also indicates a serious lack of communication skills.\r \r In fact, it is likely that it contributed to his blood pressure skyrocketing as well and further kidney decline.\r \r (2) The office manager verbally and emotionally abused me. She denied it afterwards. There was a strong racial element, I believe.\r \r (3) They charge twice what the average of what other vets charge\r \r (4) Dr. Nemec is not, in my opinion, a good vet nor an ethical person. I thought the price was too high for the quality of the service. They have a very old office without the latest equipment. They don't really have boarding facilities. They just have one room with cages where all of the cats are left, even the sick ones. The front desk is built in such a way that there isn't even enough space to put your checkbook on to write your check. The vet seemed very rushed and was on the point of being rude. more

This is where my auntie Lenore takes her feline friends. Auntie Lenore is a real cat lover. She has 5 cats of her own and often provides foster care to strays and passersby. Auntie Lenore loves cats so much that her condo is decorated with a cat theme in just about every room! When her cats get sick or need routine care Auntie Lenore visits the Cat Clinic of Seattle. Recently when I adopted a kitten she insisted that i get the kittens shots and examinations done at her regular clinic. Auntie puts alot of faith in these caring folks and she sings their praises. more

The Cat Clinic of Seattle is the ONLY clinic in Seattle that I will have take care of my cats. They specialize in taking care of cats and they know ALL there is to know about them. They offer exams, vaccinations, boarding, surgery, hospitalization, and dentistry for your special cats. Very loving and gentle. Excellent service and reasonable prices - although I could never put a price tag on my cat! more

If your cat is sick or you want someone who specializes in cat, the Cat Clinic is the greatest. My cat never likes the vet but she really gets the best treatment and comes home not traumatized as she sometimes does with other vets. more
