Car Care Clinic At Gateway Transmissions

RAV4 2003 - had transmission rebuilt in addition to several smaller tune ups and parts changes. Car was giving a number of errors and problems. Dave and his team did extensive troubleshooting to identify all issues and find solutions for every problem. Meantime, I had to go out of state for work, leaving car in shop's care. Upon my returning back, car was in a great operational state. She runs perfect now and feels reliable once again. In my experience with the shop, Dave and his team were always professional, attentive to all my inquiries and requests and delivered great results at the end. Communication was prompt and courteous. I will definitely recommend this shop to others and will use its services again for any future needs I might face. more

I had a very, very bad experience with Car Care Clinic at Gateway Transmissions. We took my grandson's tractor in for a new clutch. They worked on the tractor four times in three weeks. Six hours after my grandson took it home for the last time, the clutch was out again. They originally estimated the service would cost $700 but we paid $2,000 by the end and the problem is still not fixed. They charged exorbitant prices for inexpensive parts. Even though the clutch still does not work, we will find another company to service the problem. We have worked with this company numerous times in the past and used to recommend them to others, but I will not recommend them to anyone after the experience we just had. Car Care Clinic at Gateway Transmissions wasted a lot of our time and money, and the problem still is not resolved. You have worked with us and recommended us many times, so you know the quality of our work and the fairness of our prices. Unfortunately, your grandson is not taking care of the things that you buy him. You know very well that clutch linkages and cable were disassembled and beaten with a hammer to try to repair before the vehicle ever came to us. Also, he has stomped on the clutch pedal so hard that he actually broke the clutch pedal! Each time we have finished with the vehicle, it has left in perfect working condition, only to be brought back with another component tampered with or damaged by misuse. We don't advertise our repairs to stand up to abuse, but we are proud to feature a 2 year, 24,000 mile warranty on all our repairs. more

I took my street rod in for tranny work....they treated my car as if it was their own.....were honest in their assessment of the issues.....called me to come and see them first hand....no now yu see it and now you don't....not an easy fix but did it well, was fair with cost and competent.....tough combo to beat.....would recommend them based on my experience.... more

My transmission was going out in a hurry, and I needed an assessment and repairs right away. Dave (Oak Harbor) took care of everything in a professional and straight forward manner. He didn't try to upsell me or talk over my head. He just told me exactly what needed to be done, and then did it. Would recommend to all my friends! more

I went to the Gateway Transmission in Oak Harbor. Dave was really honest about the work that he was doing. He assured me that he wasn't going to just throw parts at my car to see if it would fix it and then just charge me. He actually took the time to inspect the vehicle to see the damage and change it out. He even guaranteed me that if the part he did change didn't fix the issue, it would be paid for by them. I really love their honesty and service. I would definitely recommend them and go to them again if I have any other issues. more

When I began to notice that my 2005 BMW X5 was starting to slip out of gear, or stick in gear and over-rev, I started to look for a highly recommended transmission shop to get an experts review. After about a week of searching for the right place, I was referred to Gateway Transmissions in Oak Harbor and told to talk to Dave. When I came in, Dave and Charlie were quick to help me diagnose what could be possibly going wrong in my vehicle. This shop was very professional in their assessments and truthful with how much I could be expecting to spend in a "worst case scenario". I am in the Navy and was detaching the next week and was worried that I could be unable to contact the shop in case anything went wrong. Dave was very good at emailing me while I was on the boat, ensuring to get appropriate permission to search further into the problem. When it had been confirmed that I was going to need extensive repairs, I was already confident that the correct work would be completed and in a timely manner. By the time I had returned, Dave had my vehicle almost completely repaired. All that it was waiting on was an outside source to send back my valve body after its refurbishing. When the vehicle was ready to be picked up, a full disclosure and limited warranty was agreed upon and I drove off with a fully functional vehicle. I truly appreciate this shops professionalism in performing the maintenance necessary to get me back on the road. I had brought in my pickup for a couple issues I had been having with it and one of the first things I was asked was, "how soon do you need this fixed by?" I replied that it was not not time pressing. Even with that being said my truck took no longer then a week to be back on the road again. I was notified as soon as the problem was found, informed of a solution, and also asked if it would be OK to fix other future problematic issues that had been discovered and overlooked by other mechanics. I was recommended by a friend, as would I recommend my friends and family. I believe I was treated more then first class and charged very fairly!!! I will definitely be using Gateway Transmission's again!!!! more
