Best

Anne Phyfe runs 3 yoga studios and still has time to teach an awesome prenatal yoga class. It's relaxing but still a good bit of exercise. Yoga breathing was the best thing I did ...

Very nice yoga studio. 9/10/2006

I just attended my first class yesterday, and as I sit here I am so sore! It was a great workout, probably due to the fact that I am a beginner and accidentally attended a level 2 class. Whoops. And even though I am not very flexible at all, the instructor was very patient with me. He must have been wondering, "What is she doing in THIS class?!". I laughed when I came home and looked at the schedule to read about the class I had just taken. I guess it pays to read the fine point, eh? The studio offers mats, clothing and other yoga accessories. It's expensive, but they offer really nice stuff. I bought a two month membership, so I'll definitely be back (only in a class at my level next time!). more

Borracchini's Bakery 4/4/2006

I was sent to Borracchini's Bakery to purchase a cake for work a few years ago. Was I pleasantly surprised when I saw a gigantic bakery counter full of the things I remembered from New York's Little Italy. They have all sorts of things from eclairs to creme puffs to cookies to cannoli to cake. Moving on from the sweets, it is also a great Italian deli. I bought a slice of refrigerated pizza from the sandwich case, took it home and heated it up and it was so good! more

Prenatal yoga is awesome! 8/20/2005

Anne Phyfe runs 3 yoga studios and still has time to teach an awesome prenatal yoga class. It's relaxing but still a good bit of exercise. Yoga breathing was the best thing I did to help prepare for a natural birth experience. The teachers will work with you to modify poses to your comfort level. You encouraged to listen to your body and take a break if it's too much for you, but I did like Anne Phyfe's gentle reminder that we might have to learn to stick out something uncomfortable for a little longer when we were in labor. more

Excellent yoga introduction 8/7/2005

When I first started taking yoga classes, I looked at 8 Limbs because they offer several introductory series classes at convenient times. The instructor was very patient with us newbies, taking her time and showing us the correct positions in a gentle manner. The 4 week class was great exercise and a wonderful overview to yoga and how great it is for the body, mind, and spirit. more

great prenatal yoga 6/14/2005

If you're looking for (or even open to trying) prenatal yoga, i highly recommend 8Limbs. I just had a baby a month ago and I attended prenatal yoga up until a week or two before my due date. The studios (both on pike and 35th ) are among the best in town and Annefife, the teacher of my class on pike, is an absolutely amazing instructor. I'm not a 'yoga person' per se so i don't usually go for the 'sharing' aspect of yoga, but i found this class very satisfying physically and also supportive emotionally. physically, it is gentle enough to be appropriate for even someone 40 weeks pregnant, but challenging enough to feel like a workout. plus late in my pregnancy it showed me i could move in ways i didn't think possible at 7, 8, or 9 months. emotionally, i found the 10 minutes or so each week the class spent sharing tips on pregnancy maladies or birth stories surprisingly helpful. i learned a lot about the wide range birth experiences - something that helped me get a sense for what to expect. so even if you're not into yoga, try it! more

Some of the best yoga in seattle 3/17/2005

I became a bit of a yoga snob while living in Boston and attending Baron Baptiste Yoga studio -- which is the best yoga class I've ever regualrly attended. That said, 8 limbs is a really good studio. They have solid instructional yoga, good class times, and very good instructors. more

Yoga without pretention 10/5/2004

Due to the urging of two friends, I recently signed up for a pre-natal yoga class at Eight Limbs with the famous Anne Phyfe. The class itself is excellent- just strenuous enough with great stretching, learning better breathing is key and awareness of the baby is always emphasized. Anne Phyfe is AMAZING-she sends a ripple of calm through all of her students with her voice and soft touch and excellent instruction. The studios are clean and airy and the overall vibe is just plain sweet. more

Yoga on Capitol Hill 7/1/2004

8 Limbs Yoga (and yoga in general) is great. The teachers are wonderful. It is a local business owned by a friend of mine. There is also a boutique attached that will take care of any of your consumer yoga needs. more
