I noticed many dealers are buying their jewelry from isaybid and reselling on craigslist for 10-20 times the amount. Check isaybid for quality jewelry for pennies on the dollar!

So much fun! 12/29/2010

I think the first poster must have been to a different BBB. I've had nothing but great experiences here! The staff is awesome and I always have a great time hanging out there. The icing on the cake is the lovely piece of jewelry to take home with me. I love Erin, Ellie,Leah etc... Keep up the good work ladies! more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! RUDEST EMPLOYEES! NEVER GO! EVER! 11/28/2010

Not even worth a star. The headline says it all. more

Maybe customer service isn't your forte... 10/24/2010

I have to say that when I found this shop online I was very excited, so I went to check it out. I thought it was especially cool that I had the option of sitting down with other beaders... maybe get a piece done or get some tips. All of my optimism however shifted to awkward uncomfortableness pretty much the moment I entered the shop. I felt like I had intruded, like I had just walked into someones living room. The owner was there (I'm assuming her name is Erin after reading the posts) and another young woman. I walked around uncomfortably, was never greeted or asked if I needed help. After maybe 15 minutes of browsing, I finally attempted to ask a few questions about product. She seems annoyed, cold and even condescending then went back to her conversation with a friend. The whole air in the shop felt thick. Regretfully I went on to purchase a couple of tiny bags of seed beads and had the same cold, unhelpful experience to say the least. I felt like I had just entered the twilight zon more

Fantastic Experience! 7/11/2010

I went here with my girlfriend the other day, and must say we were blown away with this place. She wound up spending an hour working on a project, and wouldn't stop raving about the selection and the staff. I just stayed and chatter with here while she was working, and the staff here totally respected her vision of the piece, but was also very willing to help out with great advice at key junctures. All in all, we had a great time, and she's been wearing the necklace she made non-stop. I highly recommend this place as a great way to spend and afternoon. more

I love the Bead Box! 7/3/2010

I love the Bead Box! Maybe the people who wrote those other reviews were pushy or something, because I've found everyone I have encountered there polite and knowledgeable. Erin, the owner, in particular knows everything about beading and has helped me with several projects. The selection of beads is amazing--they really have stuff I don't think you're going to find anywhere else. Totally recommended!! more

I love the Bead Box! 7/3/2010

I love the Bead Box! The selection of beads is amazing--they really have stuff I don't think you're going to find anywhere else. And, even better, there's a big work table well-stocked with tools, and the staff is very helpful. The first time I came in with this big old button I wanted to make into a ring, and someone helped me for about an hour until we got it just right--even though all I was buying from them, at the time, was wire. I've been back a bunch of times since to work on projects and made gorgeous stuff. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon. Totally recommended!! Pros: amazing selection, tons of tools you can use, helpful staff Cons: I wish I still lived nearby more

LOVE this place 7/3/2010

I LOVE this bead shop. I've read some of the other reviews on here, and am SHOCKED they're talking about the same place. I particularly don't understand the last reviewed, complaining about the staff not notifying you about projects getting too pricey... all the bead prices are labeled, and they provide calculators to help you figure out what you're spending... how are the staff supposed to know what you consider to be too pricey?!? Oh well, it takes all types I guess. Anyway, I've been coming here for years, and have always had a fantastic time. I'm an intermediate to advanced beader, but the staff has a great eye for projects, and has helped me with some great ideas. Naturally, they let you do your own thing, which is what I want, but I've heard they do offer classes for beginner and intermediate beaders. Though I've never taken any so can't speak to how good they are. Anyway, I love this place, and HIGHLY recommend it! Pros: Excellent selection, helpful staff Cons: Can get crowded more

Should've went into to Manhattan.... 12/19/2009

Reading the past reviews I can say that i agree that it is a good place to bring kids ONLY if they are being watched regarding cost since the staff will not notify you if a child is gettting too pricey. This place is not good for a beginner/Intermediate child OR adult. First off the staff is EXTREMELY unfriendly. They seem to not want to be bothered. I usually shop at the bead stores in Manhattan where they are very friendly . This place reeeeeeally pales in comparison and made me wish that I would've just taken the trip into Manhattan. Also, they are so unbelievably overpriced. I questioned my bill and so did another customer during the time I was there and I believe that is common place due to their quick & snappy response due to cost. When I got home to complete my project I saw that I was sold items that were not needed to complete it even AFTER I showed them what I was working on. I would never go back there. THE WORST BEAD SHOP I'VE EVER BEEN TO. Pros: location Cons: high cost, unfriendly staff, etc... more

Wonderful birthday party 11/23/2009

I recently held a birthday party for my daughter and nine of her friends at the Bead Box, and am so glad I did! The girls loved it, thanks in large part to the incredible staff, and the owner (who's name I believe is Erin). The girls can be a bit rambunctious, and the people there handled everything perfectly. I would have liked to have started the party a little earlier, but because the space is not very large, we had to book the party at 6:00 PM (we essentially took over the whole store). Pros: Fun staff, great products Cons: had to book party a little later than expected more

Brooklyn Bead Box is Rude! Stay Away! 11/18/2009

I wish I could support this local business but after how we have been treated I will never go back. Overpriced and with a rude owner - all in all a bad buying experience. Stay away! more

Unfriendly and unfair 11/18/2009

I like to support local and instead of ordering online I bought an item from this store. They were very unfriendly and even when I spoke with the ""owner"" didn't get a pleasant response. I will never buy from them again and won't send any of my friends there either. Too bad since I am a local artist. Plus, their stock is SUPER over-priced. Pros: Local business Cons: Rude to customers more

Unbelievably friendly staff 10/28/2009

I needed a gift for a friend, and decided to come in on a whim. The owner of the store was incredibly helpful and patient, and took the time to help me select a gourgeous assortment of beads, as well as some crafts materials. Suffice to say, my friend loved the gift. Will definitely be back. Pros: great staff, great selection more

From Amy B 10/27/2009

Brooklyn Bead Box: 5 Stars. Thanks! more

From Amy629 10/27/2009

Bead Box is a friendly place stocked with millions of gorgeous things from which to make jewelry. I love that after picking out your beads, you can pull a chair up to the crafting table--thoroughly stocked with tools-- and hang out as long as you want, making pretty things. Plus, without being intrusive, the staff is really great about helping you complete your projects. Definitely 5 stars. more

Brooklyn Bead Box is a bad experience 9/16/2009

The woman who runs this shop is consistently rude. I've visited several times since the shop has opened and she has warmed up only slightly. Recently I got a surprising smile and "hello" as I walked in. But once I started asking for help, she was once again instantly and obviously annoyed with me. As a result I don't ever get the assistance I need and my projects go unfinished because I don't want to go back and repeat the bad experience. more

Thumbs down. 6/8/2009

I've only been to the shop twice. I had been hoping that the second time, I would be treated more courteously and that my initial experience was a fluke, but unfortunately both instances were less than favorable. The staff member was so intolerant with my beginner questions that I was made to feel like I was interrupting something even though I was the only person in the store. I live in BK and chose to shop there to support local buisness, but this is simply not worth it. The selection is unremarkable and more expensive than many of the manhattan stores, and I'm not sure what it takes to be treated with respect there. I guess being friendly and asking questions about beading isn't enough. more

Only jewelry class offered in Brooklyn 10/8/2008

So... I like to get crafty. Due to the fact that I have some time off due to an upcoming surgery I decided that I finally had time to check out the Brooklyn Bead Box. I googled jewelry classes and the Brooklyn Bead Box is the only one that I could find, and sine I live in Brooklyn, I was supper excited. I called the BrooklynBB to sign up for three classes. The person told me that she was new, and she had no idea how to sign me up for the class over the phone, and the owner would be out of town for three days so I should call back. I decide to drive over to the Brooklyn BB to sign up a week after my initial phone call to sign up for the classes in person. The woman behind the counter looked at me as though I was from a different planet. She acted as though she was the customer and I was the owner. I had to explain my skill level and what I was interested in, as well as the dates, she didn't have anything to say.... nor did she have any questions for me. The store was dead. I will not be surprised if I am the only person in attendance at the three classes I signed up for. I mean if you were a business owner wouldn't you try to be sociable, especially if someone is a new customer.... I plan on buying my beads in the city, since I wasn't interested in any of the BrooklynBB bead selections. The BrooklynBB seems like the kind of store who is owned by someone who has inherited enough money to go into business, and doesn't really care if they are sucessful business person or not. Pros: Great Location, Great Space Cons: Staff, Bead Selection more

At the Brooklyn Bead Box I feel at home 9/23/2008

I have been shopping at the Brooklyn Bead Box since last May. This store is not only a place to shop, but an invitation to develop your creating side. Everyone at the store is always helpful, friendly knowledgeable! I feel at home at the Bead Box. They are so friendly that once they kept the store open longer to assist me with a project! Pros: Helpful, friendly knowledgeable staff. Great selection! more
