I really enjoyed the Kansas city spareribs! We waited about a half hour for the table and we got our ribs very fast. The waiters were polite and we didn't have to wait our drinks too long. more

Best Rib sampler 6/5/2008

We tried Blue Smoke last night. For a Wednesday night it was packed. We started with orange margaritas. They were good. They went a little overboard with the salt and it was a little too sweet for me and it was also a very small drink. But, nonetheless, very refreshing. Pros: Casual good food Cons: loud restaurant, no waiting area more

Best Rib sampler 6/4/2008

We tried Blue Smoke last night. For a Wednesday night it was packed. We started with orange margaritas. They were good. They went a little overboard with the salt and it was a little too sweet for me and it was also a very small drink. But, nonetheless, very refreshing. We had the BBQ potato chips and blue cheese dip. This was really awesome! The dip is addicting and even though the BBQ potato chips look pretty standard, the taste is outstanding. Next we got the rib sampler (for one) and the fried chicken. The fried chicken was really good. All white meat and not greasy at all. But, since the ribs were soooo GOOOD, we ended up fighting over the ribs. Next time, we would probably get the rib sampler for two. The kansas city and memphis ribs are really good. The salt and pepper ribs are really good too, but were a little dry for my taste. I would highly recommend coming here! Pros: Casual good food Cons: loud restaurant, no waiting area more

Great Ribs 3/14/2008

We were there on a busy Friday night and had a good time. The place is a bit loud, but overall good. We started with the homemade potato chips with the warm blue cheese dip, which was real nice. The dip was pretty addicting. We also had the peel and eat shrimp, which I was surprised was a hot dish. ( heat-hot) If it said it on the menu, I missed it. Pros: The Macaroni and cheese - yummy!! Cons: Too loud! more

We both had the rib sampler platter which we ended up having packed up to take home we had so much and were saving room for dessert. I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese, it was delish. Best thing of the evening. Neither of us particularly cared for the cole slaw. Dessert was the chocolate layer cake and banana cream pie. I had prearranged with the hostess that it was my husbands birthday, so they wrote his name in chocolate on the plate and put a candle in his cake. Unfortunately I was a solo in singing as a food runner dropped it off and immediately left. The banana cream pie was a little too much on what tasted like artificial banana flavor in the pie filling, but the walnuts on top were a nice addition. Pros: The Macaroni and cheese - yummy!! Cons: Too loud! more

Yummy, yummy, yummy in my tummy, tummy, tummy! 3/10/2008

Great BBQ. Loved the mac and cheese! Sweet tatters were amazing. The iceberg wedge was really good with REAL blue cheese dressing. (Don't worry... this was not all consumed in one sitting). Wait was long, but the beer was flowing so it was tolerable. Recommend the fried chicken to any real southerners. more

I don't get it 2/25/2008

Went on a saturday night, was told the wait would be an hour and a half and were seated in less than an hour.Good drinks, good beers on tap.Staff is young and the place seems really touristy. The food was horrible.I'm not big into barbeque, but I've been to R.U.B. and Pearsons in Queens and enjoyed it.I had the pulled pork which had no taste except where it was covered by some sort of sauce on a stale piece of garbage whitebread. The wings sucked! They were doused in barbeque sauce, and had very little meat on them. This slop repeated on my stomach all night long.In all fairness the desserts were pretty good.If it weren't for the dessert, this would probably be one of the worst meals i have ever had. Pros: desserts and drinks Cons: the food more

Sorely disappointed 1/28/2008

Went there for dinner the other night and was severely disappointed. Our food came eerily quickly, it was almost as if someone else had ordered the food, walked out, and the chef left our food under the heat lamp. And after taking a bite of the fried chicken this suspicion was absolutely confirmed. In addition to the less-than-average food, we were rushed through the meal and given sub par service throughtout. more

wanh waaaaaa 1/16/2008

I was expecting a lot after all the hype and Best-Ofs and Critic's Picks, but was severely disappointed. My pulled pork lacked any discernible flavor and necessitated a serious dose of sauce to make it at all palatable. The pork tasted as though it had been boiled rather than smoked. The sausage sampler was cold and dull and poorly presented, and the best thing on the plate was the mustard. For decent BBQ, do not go here. Take the trip and go to Fette Sau in Williamsburg. Both your mouth and your wallet will be much happier. more

Go somewhere else, unless you want to be insulted 11/13/2007

I've eaten here before, and I'll admit the food is very good. But now they treat their customers like crap. The manager even called me 'a liar' when I complained the hostess had promised to sit us whithin 60 minutes but after 120 she was not able to produce a table. They literally refused to serve us and kicked us out of the place after complaining!! This was an informal business dinner for foreign customers, so you can imagine the embarrassment. Bottom line, go somewhere else -- unless you like to be insulted! Pros: Good food Cons: Endless waits; staff attitude is abusive more

Great Food, Drinks and Atmosphere! 10/15/2007

I've been there twice and both times I had tasty food, great drinks and excellent service. Once was for a client dinner and the other was when my brother was in town and the restaurant caters to both settings. They have a funky menu that leads you to 'try something new' and everything I tried was good... I even bought a T-shirt from them :) Pros: Food, drinks and service Cons: it's loud more

  • Danny Meyer's sprawling, wood-trimmed barbecue joint, with its oversized booths, showpiece bar and late-night jazz club in the basement, is a hot spot for casual work lunches and fun nights on the town. Crowds pour in, and service is friendly and knowledgeable. The moderately priced menu features upscale comfort food, but only enough to showcase the high-quality ingredients and interesting pairings. The food is fun and unfussy, as creamy deviled eggs and hush puppies with jalapeno-marmalade prove. Pulled pork, though nothing like Carolina's versions, is chunky, chewy, with just enough smoke, while spice-rubbed and sauce-slathered ribs (best enjoyed as a sampler) feature fat-streaked, mostly tender pork and beef.
