Best

Blue Mango has a huge variety of delicious items, including many vegetarian dishes! The simply vegetable soup (with silver noodles) is the most soothing, BEST soup I have ever had...

Worst

I found this place is not as good as its rating. I'm Thai, and I'm not going back there again. There are many better thai restaurants out there.

Very Bad service, bad behavior 12/3/2009

The food is okay, expensive, but the service is really bad. Few servers make you feel as if you are eating for free..very bad behavior. The tall lady , she even appears in the picture on blue mango website, 4th from the left, someone like a manager , I think she is called Amy, extremely rude and unprofessional. We had been waiting for 20 minutes on the table, with no water and no menu. And when we requested her to bring some water, she ignored us few times and then replied very rudely saying she has no time for all this. She never came back to our table to ask what we wanted. ..sucks..really bad. Why waste money and get bad attitude from people.. We would never go back again. more

Most rasist place EVER 2/28/2009

Horrible place, they over price you unlike I have ever seen before. If you are not of asian decent you will have to wait forever and get horrible service. They go as far as serving a Asian group 5 times before they serve you if your white. If you ask for soup and they say 2 bowls or a pott you better say 2 bowls or you will get ripped off. Pros: NOTHING Cons: Rasist more

NEVER AGAIN 1/4/2009

Friday eve four of us went to Blue Mango at 8 p.m. to have dinner since it was my son's 24th birthday. We were told to wait for 20 minutes which was acceptable since we had not called earlier to make reservations. Eventually there was no place to sit in the waiting area so we stood up for some time making place to accomodate others. I kept checking with the attendant and he was not willing to give a proper answer. The people who came after us also got a table but we still kept waiting till 9 p.m. I again asked the guy why we were made to wait so long and he said that he had a table which could seat 5 people but not 4 so he had another family occupy that table who had just walked in. After which there were other 3 tables given out to different families who came in after us but the guy would not seat the 4 of us. We finally left at 9 p.m. hungry and disappointed and decided never to go back to Blue Mango again. more

Binder Clip?!!?!! 5/19/2008

We made reservations a week in advance for 8 people on a Sunday at 4pm.. They called us back and asked where we were on Saturday at 4.. Day too early.. So we made the reservations on Sunday for 5 pm when they opened. We get there, and they didn't have our reservations still. We sit down and order within 10 minutes since we were on a time crunch. The place was soooo hot. We literally were sweating. Water didn't come for a good 30 minutes after we had to stop someone to get it for us.. but the drinks that we had ordered still hadn't shown up. 40 minutes after we ordered, our food finally came; portions were small, the ""spicy"" wasn't spicy at all, and worst of all, there was a BINDER CLIP in the curry!!! My garlic chicken had something really hard in it, which I feared chipped my tooth. My friend, who had the same dish, also ate something hard which is still questionable on what it was. Our drinks finally came after our food was consumed (minus the binder clip of course). When the check came, there were items charged that we ordered, that never came.. I demanded that they be taken off, and the food with the binder clip was taken off too. They also gave us 15% off since I threw a fit that it took so long. They added a 20% gratuity to the check, which I refused to pay because I wasn't grateful for any of the service that was provided.. (or lack there of). I would never ever EVER go to this place again... and take my advise.. don't go there yourself. Pros: Fake plants in the front. Cons: food, service, bathroom, drinks, binder clip more

YUM! 2/11/2008

Blue Mango has a huge variety of delicious items, including many vegetarian dishes! The simply vegetable soup (with silver noodles) is the most soothing, BEST soup I have ever had. Sweet potato sticks are just, uh, YUM! Bamboo mountain, with mushrooms, veggies, and tofu is out of this world. I might just have to go here every day and bring a container of the soup home!! The service is friendly, quick, and with smiles. I love this place!! Pros: ALL good! Cons: parking is a little tight more

Loved it! 10/25/2006

I'm going to keep it short! I loved it here! The curries are yummy and so are the stir-fries. I also like their pineapple fried rice, and how it is NOT served in a pineapple shell because I heard that restaurants who use them reuse them. GROSS! So i'm glad mine comes on a nice white plate! Also, I ordered the spicy garlic chicken too spicy and the waitress asked it I wanted her to bring it back! Thank goodness, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to finish it! WHen here don't forget to leave room for dessert. more

Caution - Blue Mango - Overated & Not Recommended 9/16/2006

Unfortunately, in 2006 the San Jose Mercury News readers made the inexcusable mistake of rating ""Blue Mango"" as the best Thai Restaurant in San Jose. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The Tom Kah Gai (Chicken) Soup arrived mildly warm with very little spice. The Chef used only half of the usual Thai ingredients others Thai restaurants use for flavoring. The result was a bland tepid uninspired start. (Compare Tom Kah Gai soup at Thai Pepper or Krung Thai, in San Jose, and you'll see that the presentation should be on a burner with the soup simmering with a bounty of Thai herbs and spices with a kick.) The Won Ton Soup and Chicken Satee were competently prepared though not inspired with any flare. Pros: Parking Cons: Food & Service more

Avoid on Friday nights, and enjoy! 8/28/2006

YES it's very busy on Friday nights! So I go on Saturday nights! I caught a live music night which was very delightful. I've been going here since it opened in 2002/2003 and it's changed a lot! But the food is great, and the service is awesome. I can tell that on Monday there are like 2 waitresses but on Friday and Saturday there are 6! I love the Tom Yum and Tropical Curry (which has mangoes hmmmm). DOn't bring your kids if they're rowdy because the place is small, and the staff will walk them back to their seats! Someone was complaining about it, but I think it's wonderful! Pros: Tom Yum SOup Cons: parking more

Highly overrated and Bad service ! 8/16/2006

I was once a big fan of this resturant . It used to be our favorite resturant reserved for all those special occasions . Now adays the SERVICE QUALITY has deteoriated and so has the TASTE of the FOOD . The red curry is very salty and prik king stir fry was very very bad . There are only 2 people serving the whole servant on a busy day and sometime they tend to show their frustration on the customers which is highly disappointing . Well when you pay such a high price you atleast expect a reasonable service and good food ! more

Good food, Highly Kid UNFRIENDLY!!! Unfriendly staff. 6/30/2006

The food was good, the portions also were huge, but the waitress was very unfriendly with our friends 2 yr old kid!. First she gave crayons along with a sheet with colored animals to the kid , and then later came and told the kid not to color that page as it was supposed to be a kids menu! Then after some time she again comes and tells the kid not to play with the chopsticks and asks her to keep the chopsticks away! Other places give kid friendly chopsticks and are not bothered whether the kid is playing with it or not! We have never seen such kid-unfriendly restaurant anywhere! Pros: good food Cons: kid - unfriendly more

Love it! 6/26/2006

Although Thai food in America never compares to the sidewalk stalls in Thailand, I think Blue Mango does a pretty good job. Although not everything they serve is Thai (they have some new creations of their own ie the creamcheese wonton-very very good), I love most of their dishes. I would recommend to you the coconut soup (thom kah) hmmm, and try to save room for desert! I sometimes do take out just so that I won't be tempted by it, but sometimes it's just too hard to resist. For main course, I love the Seafood Feast! Pros: not far from santana row (great on Fri nites) Cons: parking (more in the back) more

Good Thai Food but Slow Service 4/26/2006

I've heard about this place and decided to stop in and try out the Blue Mango. They offer a good variety of food options here and the appetizers and the prices are reasonable. The serve the food Family Style and expect to pay around $5-$10 for Appetizers and for Plates $8 - $14. Portion sizes are decent. They do a good job in flavoring and the curry was done with just enough spiciness for me. Though the food was good the service was slow. We waited about 30 minutes before we were seated and then 15 minutes for our order. But once our order was taken the food came out very quickly. There is also limited parking. Overall, I would come back here again because of the good food and reasonable prices and will hope the slow service was due to coming on a busy night. Pros: Food Flavoring, Curry, Price Cons: Slow Seating, Slow Service, Parking more

Best Thai food 1/7/2006

Thai food are very tasteful, delicious, creamy but not fatty rich. Each menu has its own distinctive flavor and aroma that differs from the other. It's very different from chinese food that just garlic/onion/salt/pepper/soy sauce - saute all meus, ohh some are deep fried. I would say that this restaurant makes good Thai food and excellent price. Probably not elegant dining but for someon who does not cook like me, this one goes on my daily list. Pros: good price Cons: addicting more

good curry 12/17/2005

curry was very tasty. other dishes were pretty good. I would go there to have curry there. more

excellent food 12/4/2005

My waitress was nice. We got the Bangkok Platter which has an appetizer tray, which was good. Great peanut sauce! I got the pad tahi noodles which was tasty, and the pking pork which was a little different for me but still good. they even have brown rice option. Our dessert was a chocolate pyramid which was a perfect ending. more
