Unfortunately, in 2006 the San Jose Mercury News readers made the inexcusable mistake of rating ""Blue Mango"" as the best Thai Restaurant in San Jose. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The Tom Kah Gai (Chicken) Soup arrived mildly warm with very little spice. The Chef used only half of the usual Thai ingredients others Thai restaurants use for flavoring. The result was a bland tepid uninspired start. (Compare Tom Kah Gai soup at Thai Pepper or Krung Thai, in San Jose, and you'll see that the presentation should be on a burner with the soup simmering with a bounty of Thai herbs and spices with a kick.) The Won Ton Soup and Chicken Satee were competently prepared though not inspired with any flare.
