LUV IT! 4/28/2011

While on a trip to Los Angeles, we stumbled upon AROMA and I am grateful for this find. Fresh Mint leaf tea, Smoked Salmon, cucumber tomato and green salad, cream cheese and crisp bagel chips plate are the absolute best. ITS A MUST every time I am in LA!! more

Not impressed 12/7/2010

Service was a bit slow which was surprising, as they were not very busy and had a lot of staff standing around talking. Food was okay and not worth the price. Our appetizer had a hair in it and we sent it back right away. The waitress felt bad and brought us a new appetizer a few minutes later but they still charged us, which surprised me. more

BEWARE 9/5/2010

***BEWARE*** I placed an order at 7:21PM for delivery. The website said my order would be here at around 7:56PM. At 8:45PM I called Aroma Bakery Cafe, and was told the driver is on his delivery route, and should be there shortly with my food. No food has arrived still, so I called back at 9:21PM, and they tell me my order hasn't left yet, because they don't have my dessert. Right. First time I call I was told my order was sent out, and now it hasn't even been made. Why would you not call and tell me this, instead have me sitting here waiting hungry expecting my food to come!?!!?! He proceeds to ask me if I still want my food, and I tell him no, I just want a refund (since I paid with credit card). A$$HOLES more

Wonderful vegetarian dishes with Mediterranean flair 1/25/2010

Ok I admit as much as I love this place, I have had experience with slow service. I like to think the taste and quality of the food makes up for it though! I have had breakfast here at least 4 times and lunch twice. The huge menu really makes decisions hard especially if you show up hungry. And the place smells like fresh baked bread since it is also a bakery. For breakfast the ""Mediterranean Shakshuka"" has sunny side up eggs simmered in a spicy tomato and bell pepper sauce. It is spicy and exotic without being mouth burning. Completely satisfying especially on chilly mornings! For something mouthwatering and completely different, try the Labane & Zaatar. Think thin crust cheese-less pizza topped with a fresh herb blend and fragrant olive oil. With a side salad you have a great Summer lunch! The prices do seem do be a bit high on the side for fish and meat but if you are a vegetarian then not really a worry with many reasonably priced options. Pros: fresh baked bread, lots of vegetatian options Cons: noise on Sunset, service can be slow more

Good for coffee Overpriced desert bad service 1/23/2010

Nice atmosphere, but I won't be eating here again. Nice place for a late night coffee or tea, but that's about it. Prices are high, Desert here look like Porto bekery just make it more cute but cost 3 time more. I prefer to go to Porto's bekery in Magnolia. more

Huge Dissapointment! 7/28/2009

I don't understand why this place did not have a friendly staff, after all there were enough employees and they weren't overwhelmed or anything. At one point the owner or manager was walking by and my husband asked for the password to get on wi-fi and he was so annoyed and rude when telling us the password. He was walking around practically staring down people! I had a seared tuna salad dish ($16 not bad), oh my gosh I couldn't have the fish it was just nasty. My husband had the beef stroganoff dish ($32 expensive!). It was better than my dish but I still needed to add salt to it and something was still missing. I was so disappointed. My suggestion to the owner is to get a chef that can cook and to change their policy on service (smiles, eye contact and friendlier tone would be a great start). Pros: Beautiful place with cheap valet parking! Cons: Less than mediocre food, expensive and bad service. more

OVER PRICED!!! BAD SERVICE 7/10/2009

OVER PRICED...REALLY $26 for stroganoff??RIDICULOUS!!! Service was so horrible, we had to ask several times for water re-fills, our plates were never taken off table after during or before check. Staff just stood around when their tables needed service.\r people think the food is good because it is from jars and pre-pakaged. Yes of course the olives, feta cheese, artichokes, pita bread, pickles, yogurt and tomatoes are going to be good. It's all shipped and pre-packaged/canned. Mediocore pre-packaged food for WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!!!! LETS TAKE THEM OUT OF BUSINESS AND MOVE A BETTER RESTAURANT IN! I WILL NEVER EVER EVER RETURN!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY LIKE PLAUGE!!!! GO TO A DELI IF YOURE CRAVING FOOD FROM AROMA CAFE, YOU'll SAVE A LOT OF NEEDED MONEY NOWADAYS!!! What are they thinking????? Cons: Food, service, OVER PRICED more

Good Food Bad Service ! 6/15/2009

Food was a bit pricey but the food was good, the waitress was a little slow, dint check back with us, got us the wrong salad. overall a very decent experience. Pros: Food was great Cons: Sloppy service ! more

Overpriced and overcooked! 5/27/2009

At first I thought this place was the same as Aroma Cafe in Valley Village, but was terribly mistaken. Service was bad, never even acknowledged for 15 minutes. Burger and Tuna was overcooked. The prices are outrageous. I felt like I was in Vegas. If I knew now, the, I would pass right by. Pros: Pictures in the menu Cons: Service, Prices more

THE BEST !!! 12/9/2008

Ok honestly all the bad reviews bellow MUST be from someone who has a personnal grudge against somebody who works there.... Yes there's a valet and that a GREAT thing... If you're too cheap to pay $3 for somebody to park your car then you might as well stay at home.\r \r The food is awesome HUGE menu all the products are fresh and it's always tasty. I have been there more than 10 times I have never been disapointed...\r \r The service has always been quick and efficient. The waiters are not pros but tell me where in L.A waiters are real professionnal. Everytime the service was good and the food was excellent.\r \r I love Aroma Pros: great food, huge portions, unique in L.A, fresh, more

Great food, service not so good 11/16/2008

The place is very nice and large. they have a large outdoor seating which i loved. valet parking $3 (free for first hour). You get a lot of food for your money but the waitress was impossible to catch. She walked around and talked and hung out and never bothered to see if we were ready to order. I had to wave for 5 minutes to catch her. (they really want that $3 for the parking!) I got a lot fo the money and a large coffee and large orange juice. they have soy milk which is hard to find anywhere outside of starbucks. I loved the food and the atmosphere. The bathrooms were so clean and high end, that was a nice surprise. Again i had to chase after the waitress to get the check (we didnt come there to sit for 3 hours). I'd prob go to a diff location next time i don't like being ignored. Pros: Food, parking available, great outdoor seating Cons: service was aweful more

Horrible Experience 10/20/2008

My buddies and I decided to head there for brunch and check it out. Horrible Experience. The not-so-bright waitress did not write down the correct order and ask several times what each of us ordered again. Forgot the drinks. Overpriced menu for a wrap or sandwich that is $13.00 bucks when you can go to Subway for $5.00 bucks. Simply overpriced . You can have a better experience with inexpensive prices at Toast on 3rd St. or Griddle Cafe on Sunset Blvd with a smarter staff. We would never ever go here again. Let's see how this restaurant survive when the recession comes into play. more

All Around Awful Experience 9/29/2008

I don't know what happen to Roman's (the predecessor of this location) but oh that I could wish it back into being. Let me start from my arrival to discover this location was now valet parking only. Excuse me? This is like McDonald's asking you for your reservation on arrival. Okay so I put that aside, parked on a side street and made the walk only to enter a revamped eatery that reminded me of an upscale high-school cafeteria. They cram as many tables in as possible and then blast music so basic conversation is a near impossibility. Then let's talk about the staff, maybe they should take a trip to Trader Joe's and find out about friendly service. No one, absolutely no one smiled at me or was remotely pleasant. All this would be forgivable if the food was fantastic...IT WAS NOT! I ordered a fish dish which tasted like someone pressed an auto-button on the microwave and poured some watery mushroom sauce over top. The salad was passable but I didn't pay twenty bucks for bad fish and a mediocre salad. I was so craving good fish I made the 40 minute trek to Gulf Stream in Century City for their to die for crab-cake entree. (Which was ten dollars more than the awful offering from Aroma...and worth every penny!) DO NOT confuse this place with the Aroma Cafe in studio city, that is a wonderful tranquil spot with simple scrumptious dishes...this particular Aroma just plain STINKS! more

Good for coffee and desert 9/22/2008

Been her a couple of times now, good service, nice atmosphere, but I won't be eating here again. Nice place for a late night coffee or tea, but that's about it. Prices are high, but portions are large...and fairly unappetising. Salad was one gigantic mess, too much dressing, too much tuna, too much of everything, and one odd looking BEIGE colored boiled egg!! Hummus was decent but tasted like it was watered down....again no one needs a whole bowl of hummus for $10. Steak wrap with mushrooms, was completely tasteless! For a far better late night meal try ""Bossa Nova"", a few doors down, you cannot go wrong...although the place is crowded. Pros: Coffee, tea, desert, Ambience Cons: hire a real chef more

Terrible food and service! 9/15/2008

Our group of five decided to try this new local cafe on Sunday morning for breakfast. The eggs in all of our dishes were overcooked (ie. egg whites were dark brown). The breakfast burritos and sandwiches were completely tasteless. The waffles were extremely dry even with the large amount of whipped cream on top. The salad and vegetables were not fresh or edible. The service was slow and unfriendly. Not one dish in our group of 5 were finished. We followed our $80 brunch with a second brunch down at the KFC which was far superior - food, value and service! Enough said! Pros: Location Cons: Food, service, value more

BEST Bakery And Cafe' in The HOLLYWOOD area. 9/3/2008

Yes, the service needs to be improved and it takes a little more time to get the food but..........\r The place is wonderfull, the food is excelent and the girls are lovely !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r We will be back there for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r Five stars and some paitent. more

Wait Until Service Improves 8/21/2008

A sign outside says ""Open While Training"" -- but how much training will it take for servers to develop basic courtesy and competence? I was excited by the fresh Mediterranean menu and ate there twice; the food is fine, but the service discouraged me from going back. The waitress never smiled or welcomed me, did not write down my dinner order, and then returned after ten minutes to ask for the order again. After it arrived (late) she disappeared. Although there were only three other tables occupied in the dining room, I sat for fifteen minutes after finishing the meal, waiting for a check -- finally the hostess (who was courteous and efficient) noticed the problem and went in search of the waitress. The result was that when I left the restaurant, I had spent twice the time I intended and was unhappy with the experience.\r Often training periods can be fun, if the staff has some measure of humor or enthusiasm but, in a city full of professional waiters and waitresses, Aroma has assembled a staff of servers who seem to resent the job and would rather be doing anything else. more
