Editorial review from Citysearch 12/22/2012

Armando's customer service not the same since they have moved to their new location on Parker and Chambers. We went there last night at 6:30 and were told that it would be 20 min to seat a party of two. That seemed reasonable to us as they seemed very busy. But when the couple behind us who were two adults and one baby (1 yr old or less) were seated right away, I couldn't believe it. The mom even commented to us ""I guess you have to have a child to get seated"". They seated the couple at a table top of four, removed two chairs and put a highchair up to the table. We were shocked and when we inquired as to why they got seated before us, we were told they had more people in their party. I told the host that clearly the baby would not be eating and couldn't even sit in a chair by itself, so no they did not have more adults, they had two adults and a child. Totally unacceptable. I later called to talk to the manager and was told she would return my call. As I expected she did not return my call! I will NEVER spend my money at Armando's again and I will tell everyone I know about my experience. more

Armando's in Aurora moved to a new 1/15/2012

Armando's in Aurora moved to a new location in the fall, and I have to say that it just isn't the same. They've gone ""uptown"" with a newer, fancier look. The home family atmosphere is gone, the waiters don't have time to be friendly anymore, it's noisier - it's just not the same. The food even tastes different. It's like losing an old friend. Sad to say we'll no longer be having dinner with Armando's once or twice a month like we used too. Sad. more

Hostile Owner Doesn't Care About His Customers!!! 11/18/2011

I ordered and came exactly when they said it would be ready (a full 40 mins later) . When I arrived they said the order wasn't in their system. They questioned if I ordered at their location. I have a smart phone and showed them the number I dialed 40 mins earlier. They said I could sit and the bar and have a beer on them and wait 20 mins for my order. I told them this was unsatisfactory. I asked to see Armando. Armando, the owner, came out furious and exclaimed, ""We're a family owned franchise not a chain and we don't give out free food!!!"" I told him I didn't want him to give anything away free. I just wanted a percentage taken off my order for the inconvenience he caused me. He actually said ""FORGET IT!"" I told him I would report him and he said, ""GO AHEAD!"" Clearly this guy doesn't understand customer service. He also doesn't understand the whole situation was his mistake. I'm completely appalled! Seriously, there are other restaurants - avoid this one!!! more

Had to do it... 11/5/2010

Sorry, but of all the Italian restaurants here, Armando's is the BEST. I've tried 95% of them, and sorry to say, ""Mama Alvino's"" is not even in the top 10. Nice try, ""Triple D""... It is obvious you either work there, or have stock in it. LOL\r \r I didn't want to post this review, but I had to do it.\r \r Both Armando's restaurants are family owned and operated. Like I said before, I'm through searching for the 'perfect' Italian restaurant. \r \r Armando's is where I want to be... \r \r You come in as a customer, leave as family. That's the way it should be.\r \r They care about your experience. \r \r Armando's wants you back, not because they need the money...because they love what they do! more

A Real Restaurant!! 10/5/2010

I have been to Armando's countless times over the past seventeen years; I'm seventeen years old. I've always thought of this place as a safe haven, a mom and pop restaurant with a real owner in the middle of a fake, suburban landscape. However, I never noticed just how fantastic this restaurant was until I visited Germany a couple years ago and went to some Italian restaurants owned by first-generation Italian immigrants. The food at Armando's is just as good as the food I had in Europe and the atmosphere is much the same. It's a little loud, but it's a joyous place, so what's wrong with that? The owner runs the restaurant like a city restaurant and the wait-staff is always kind and courteous. Yes, it takes more than two minutes to get your food, but when you get it, you're getting a little piece of Italy. If you don't think the chefs are working hard enough, go take a peek into the kitchen and you'll change your mind. I'll be heading off to college after this school year and there aren't many things that I'll miss about Aurora, but I certainly will miss Armando's. more

Stay away from the pizza 9/20/2010

I had heard & read good reviews for Armando's. However i was very disappointed in the pizza. Crust was dry & toppings lacked flavor. I generally avoid chains when it comes to pizza, and try mom & pop restaurants instead. Blackjack has better pizza than this! You want a good pizza in Aurora, try Mama Alvino's. more

Great Food, Great Service 5/6/2010

This was a great little place with a great ""at home"" atmosphere! Our waiter was great! Pros: Waiter more

Ask for Brandon ""Brandoni"" 2/24/2010

Great little family ristorante! It was our first time in and Brandon gave us outstanding service. The food was great! spot-on recommendations. I didn't save room for dessert untill he said they had home made tiramisu!!\r The best tiramisu I have ever had. \r Thank you Brandon Pros: Excellent waitstaff and food more

excellent food and yes the owner is italian 2/19/2010

everyone who comments about the ""owner's"" attitude would not survive 5 minutes in NY or NJ. as I tell my husband all the time ""i'm not yelling i'm just passionate!"" get over it, good food is well worth a little yelling...lol. I also tell him good food takes time, its not McDonalds so if your kids can't wait more than 5 minutes don't take them there. My kid has always been great there and the staff has treated us wonderfully since he was a baby.\r On to the food, I grew up as a second gen italian in nj, when i moved to colorado i thought i was going to die when it came to finding good food. when i moved to aurora I found them and it was like being in grandma's kitchen, second only to my own. i love the Eggplant Alla Romano, and I hear the Lobster Rav is excellent, and a newer addition I will be going there tomorrow to try. I am usually too full to attempt a dessert but tomorrow I may save room just so I can't write another raving review about them. I have been to other supposedly great italian restaurants in denver which are much pricier, and not nearly as good. \r The only reason I do not give them a five star is because if you are looking for a quiet, romantic place with ambience...this is not it. Pros: great food, great price, close, quick Cons: not much ambience, not a romantic place more

Great Food! 1/22/2010

I've been getting pizza and an occasional dinner since high school in the mid 90's. The food is still Great and worth the drive. Pros: Food! Cons: Staff is sometimes rough more

I love this restaurant! 12/17/2009

I have tried a lot of Italian restaurants in the US and overseas such as Japan where a lot of excellent Italian restaurants exist, but this restaurant is the one of the best of all!\r The taste is great! and the price is very reasonable!\r Pros: Best pastas! more

decent food, expensive, owner is a TOOL!!! 12/13/2009

Our family of five was a regular at Armandos since the restaurant is close to our house. Then one night I asked the waitress for 1/4 pepperoni, 3/4 cheese pizza but I'd pay for 1/2 and 1/2. She came back to the table and said that the owner wouldn't make the pizza that way - it was too difficult. We then ordered the pizza his way but when I paid for the pizza, I asked him politely why they couldn't accommodate my request that was fulfilled at other restaurants. He became very beligerent with me and said that if he ""did that for me, he'd have to do it for everybody. "" I told him that he just lost a great customer and my family hasn't been back since. We do get a great laugh about Armando at his expense, though -- there are lots of other restaurant options in the area where the owner isn't a tool. more

Weekly Customer 6/26/2009

I can't imagine what the last 2 reviewers are talking about. I have been going to Armando's for 4+ years and recently go almost every week for take-out pizza which beats any chain pizza - hands down! I have got to know the staff personally and they LOVE working there. Sometimes the owner talks loudly to the wait staff (in typical Italian fashion) so they know they have food ready to deliver but is NEVER NEVER rude! There is NO WAY Armando's substitutes pork for veal. (think ""stupid"" spells ""SUBSTITUTES"" incorrectly on purpose?!? probably not) The place is packed with return customers on weekends...can all those people keep coming back for bad food? This place is absolutely wonderful...don't believe otherwise until you try it for yourself. You'll become a frequent customer too! Pros: Consistently GREAT food - reasonably priced Cons: Weekends get pretty crowded more

Do not spend your $$ here 5/23/2009

I went there with my family 6 total. The owner is an embarrasment to himself for the way he treats his employees and his customers. We will NEVER EVER go to Armando's Ristorante Pizzeria located at 16611 E Smoky Hilol Road again. Cons: The entire restaurant more

Armando's subsitutes pork for veal 3/20/2009

I ordered a veal dish. Evidently, the owner thinks people in the Denver area are stupid. I was served a grainy white meat, dry and tough approximately 1/4 inch thick requiring a table knife to cut. - this is pork with the fat trimmed off. Veal is a gentile peace of meat, it is a pale white in color, fine grain, cut with the side of the fork, a slight dryness to the meat. Veal is not something this restaurant serves. In San Jose California, an Italian restaurant was closed by the board of health for cheating the customer in this manner. Armandos should close also. , Cons: Cheating Customer's more

Simply Wonderful! 3/13/2009

My family and I have decided to make ourselves regulars at Armandos as we have grown tiresome of the ""miss"" of the surrounding sit-in restaurants and fast food joints and for that matter--money not well spent. The staff is so personable they know us by name and are friendly. At Armandos the food is always right on and the service is just as consistent and wonderful as the food...mmm...so fresh and completely Italian, not American Italian, but Italian Italian. It is a family business, small and qauint with the perfect family environment. The children and adults are welcome to draw on the paper tablecloth with the crayons they provide and believe it or not it is sufficiently entertaining for both kid and adults in pacifying them until their food reaches the table. If your not into doodling there are also t.v.s and nuetral music that may suffice. Even during their busiest hours the wait time is not horrible as many have stated, but comparable to other resturaunts if not better. The longest my family and I have waited to be seated was 15-20 minutes. That's awesome considering other restaurants that are not near as good (not in food nor service) and generally have 35-45 minute waits during rush hours. I have never heard nor experienced the so called tempermental owner. Nonetheless, young and old couples, friends and the like all show up to Armandos and it's obvious that it is in demand and well liked as there the house is always packed on the weekends, sometimes even the weekdays (depending) and there are quit a few regulars who visit weekley. Once you start it is hard to stop. more

We loved this place- then the owner was yelling at us- with our 2 kids! 12/22/2008

We had a nice dinner, but the food took incredibly long for our children so we asked if we could talk to the manager- just to let him know the time challenge. The owner came out and started yelling at us (because he was the one in the kitchen) he followed us with another man to our car and was swearing at my husband. Needless to say- we will never be back. more

The old town traditional italian restaurant you see in the movies. 9/17/2008

I've been coming here since High School and now my husband and our family come. You feel welcome. You walk in and most of the waiters know you and stop to say hi. Very cheerful and friendly. GREAT food at a GREAT price. Very family oriented. My daughter has grown up here. They remember before she was around! You can draw on the paper covered tables, you can watch sports on a few tvs, you can eat great appetizers (I love the deluxe garlic knots that come with melted cheese) and they cater to picky eaters. We come about once a week to eat here. It's one of our favorite places. Pros: Family oriented, food quality, service, friendliness, price Cons: None too me more
