I had to take my dog into the veterinary emergency referral group. She had jumped off the sofa and then wouldn't put her foot down. They took her to the back. It was a long time before I went into a room. There were several emergency that came in after me. They called lots of ""stat""s after I came in. When I finally got in a room, they gave me an estimate of what they needed to do to find out what had happened. They had asked me earlier if they could give her a pain shot, I said yes. It turned out she had broken her leg, they referred me to a surgeon for her and kept her comfortable till I could take her to see the specialist two days later.(Why do these things happen on Fridays?) My cat passed out and fell over one night very late. I rushed her to VERGI. They took her to the back immediately. A tech came and spoke to me then the vet spoke with me. They ran a number of tests and it turned out she was very anemic. They were fast and effecient. My cat is better now thanks to them. I did another incident with my cat. She was not critical the second time. We waited for quite a while, there were several critical cases that came in. I understood the wait, because just like a human ER critical patients go first.
