Yummmm! 6/17/2004

Whether it's a romantic night out or just a dinner with a few girlfriends, this place can take your breath away. I love their beef tenderloin (It's a MUST-HAVE!).. all their food are presented in a creative asian manner and their tastes is superb.. While eating there, you can't help but notice the environment : feels like a quiet evening in Vietnam.. Pros: decoration, food more

Beautiful setting for pretty nice food 4/14/2004

This is a great date place. It's simply gorgeous and the food is pretty as well. A few of the dishes are on the small side, but if you order a few and share, everyone should have enough to eat. Quite different than most places at the Wharf, which is a large part of Ana Mandara's charm. Pros: creative menu, good food, good bar Cons: , tourists find it more

The ambiance is beautiful. One of the most visually stunning restaurants in the area. The lighting and mood is just right. The decor in the restaurant is amazing - it's very elegant, classy and romantic. Service is usually good, and the staff is very friendly. The food is great, though portions could be bigger. more

ANA MANDARA 9/3/2003

The first time that I went to Ana Mandara was with a group a friends and my husband. We went there to celebrate our wedding (City Hall...nothing fancy) and I was amazed with the scene. It was like going somewhere OUT of San Francisco.....it was romantic. The food was fantastic! Pros: great scenery, GREAT FOOD, romatic Cons: expensive, no parking more

Strange 'Hood, Good Chow 7/15/2003

Aside from the fact that a hip Asian restaurant seems out of place in a mostly touristy neighborhood (Fisherman's Wharf), overall it delivers enjoyable cuisine in an exciting and interesting setting. Hard to find a weak point on the menu (and we shared lots of dishes). The soft underbelly is probably the service, which had its flaws (the English skills of the waiters are weak). However, this is more than compensated for by the food and the decor. Who needs to eat in hip neighborhoods anyway? Pros: Food, Decor Cons: Service, Prices more

Worth the Effort 3/18/2003

Tired, from driving all over creation and walking the other half, we had just checked into a hotel near the airport. Our flight was leaving early the next day, the end of a weekend jaunt to SF from Houston. Neither my wife nor I were in the mood to drive back through town to eat, but this was the first weekend in several years, so we said, ""Lets make the most of it. The restaurant caught my eye on our walk that morning. We drove back down and it was an outstanding meal (Basa with Spicy lemon sauce and the Duck breast with Plum Sauce) and a wonderful setting. I can normally find one thing wrong, but not this time. It was delicious and well worth it, a cordial welcome, excellent service and fine cuisine. Make sure you save room for dessert and coffee. Recommend it highly! Pros: Wonderful imaginative, Moderate Price, Beautiful decor more
