Dad, a big wine guy and lover of fine food, was in town and we were looking for an impressive place for dinner. This fit the bill. Got a few great bottles, marveled at the fantastic flavor combos (and attentive service) and laid down the gauntlet for Dad's next visit! Even enjoyed the jazz combo with our nightcap upstairs in the bar. Hurrah. Pros: Wine List, Food, Attentive Service Cons: Limited Parking, Nothing nearby more

Taste bud delight 8/23/2002

We were looking for something extraordinary and found it. Not only was the food excellent and quite different from the normal Asian fare one finds in Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese Pho restaurants, but the setting was beautiful and the service excellent. Don't forget to order the special Ana Mandara Rice, a delicate blend of flavors steamed in banana leaves-who knew rice could be exciting? Pros: Unusual food, Service, Ambience Cons: Fairly expensive more

HIDDEN GEM 8/19/2002

Ana Mandara is by far my favorite restaurant in SF. The combination of great service, amazing food, and great drinks made for an outstanding dining experience. The decor is absolutely gorgeous, and the waiter was polite but not overbearing. The chocolate souffle might be one of the best things I have ever tasted. Pros: Good parking more

I loved this restaraunt. The atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic. Me and my husband went to this restaraunt for the first time and fell in love with it. I loved the appetizers (that night there was shrimp toast with a sweet glaze sauce) and it was to die for. I cannot remember how the service was because the atmosphere and the food was so tasty. Pros: good atmosphere, good food, nice patio Cons: expensive, not too much food, crowded more

Beautiful Restaurant 6/12/2002

This is just a gorgeous place and is easy to forget about it. Small portions of delicious flavorful food. The lounge is great if you want to hear music, actually hear the person you're with and you can eat in the lounge as well. I went to a party here as well and the service was wonderful. more

My fisrt impression as I walked in was well, impressive. The food on the other hand could use a little work. It's tasty, but I think the atmoshpere leads you to expect more from the food. The service was great. Our waiter was courteous and full of smiles. It didn't take long for the food to arrive after ordering. Overall, I would say I had a good experience. Pros: Beautiful Cons: Pricey more
