Stay away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amigo Energy Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r \r I have paid my account on time and find out yesterday that I got an early termination notice that my power is to be turned off. I never requested for my power to be turned off. I have been with this company only 2 months. My 1st payment was sent and gone through my bank as paid on time. The rep yesterday tells me that some requested the power to be turned off. I never nor did I look at any other companies to switch. I want my power turned back on. My family has to check into a hotel tonight. \r I spoke to one of their rep with an hour of their email to me that the power was requested to be turned off. That was 2 days ago and they told me that there was nothing to worry about.\r On top of all that they are charging me a 125 fee\r I want my fee refunded 125 and hotel stay - I want my power on today!– \r Stay away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Energy deregulation has enabled companies like Amigo to exist. I've been with them a year and it's been rough sledding the whole time. If you are enticed by their low Kwatt/hr rate beware. My experience has been terrible.Too much to go into, but from customer service, to billing to provisioning of service, these guys are truly terrible and are just out for the $. more

Bad Business 9/14/2011

These guys are the worst. They charge hidden fees for being a day late, more hidden fees for being 3 days late then out of nowhere fees just because. They send bills at all times during the months. Some months you will get two bills. Stay away from these people. RUN RUN FAST! more

Don't Do It No Matter What the Initail Savings!!! 8/17/2010

I signed up for a 6 month fixed rate plan, but did not note when my plan ran out. Then I started being charged 21.5 cents per kWH. Then it took 45 days to convert to someone else. I was not going to sign back up with Amigo after they did this to me. Not only that, I recommended that my parents sign up too for their main house and the beach house. They did this at the same time as I did so the same thing happened. Now, I hear they are sending letters 30 days before, but that was not the case when I used them. I now use GEXA and am very happy. more

Amigo Energy is Expensive and Bad 7/2/2010

You really don't want to get involved with this company. They don't bill you on time, have tight billing cycles, and then charge these horrendous fees if you are one day late according to their schedule. Avoid! Cons: read the contract carefully more

Amigo Energy is THE WORST 2/25/2010

So, Amigo is quick to take your money but when it comes to them owing you money... it will take forever for you to get it, if you do at all. the first year i was with Amigo, everything was fine. then my bills start being due at different times during the month... once on the 9th and then the next one was on the 27th. and it continued like that. they owed me 40 dollars from when i switched apts., but i never saw it and was told the mgr. was going to call me, on 3 seperate occasions, but never heard from anyone. their rates keep increasing and they lie. i really don't see how their practices are legal. i do not reccomend Amigo for anyone. they will bleed you dry. oh, and if you are one day late paying your bill, which i happened to do once, they send you a disconnect notice the next day and then on top of the late fee they charge you another 20+ dollars for the disconnect notice. its insane how greedy and coniving they are. Pros: its fun to say pronto pay Cons: everything else more

MORE ABUSE BY AMIGO ENERGY 10/16/2009

WOULD NOT SEND PROMISED PAPER COPY OF BILLING STATEMENT. WOULD TAKE OUR MONEY BEFORE WE COULD VERIFY. AMIGO DIDN'T KEEP THEIR PROMISES UNTILL THE 4TH OR 5TH CALL/PROMISE @30 TO 45 MINUTES PER CALL OR UNTILL WE FILED WITH THE TX PUC. Cons: LIARS more

avoid avoid avoid! 8/4/2009

wow....i just got my bill from amigo on 8-4-09...a month after i was supposed to get it. i still have not received a paper bill. i found out they are threatening to turn off my electricity in a week and a half! i waited on the phone for 30 minutes the other day to inquire about my bill, but no answer! i dont believe they are THAT busy. just lazy. i am done with this company forever. if they were the only electric suppliers, i would burn candles for light and use steam power for everything else. not worth the headaches at all! Pros: nothing Cons: no notification of rate changes, late bills more

Avoid this company. 4/6/2009

Would not return inquiries concerning high electric bills. Cons: Poor customer service. more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR ENERGY NEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/28/2008

I live in an apartment with about 1000sq. ft. and my electric bill with this company is on average $350 a month. I have had to call a diffrent company to re-read my meter knowing that can not be the correct amount... we are never home! That was a couple of month ago and they still know nothing about it!!!! I am changing service companies ASAP... Pros: NONE! Cons: TO MANY TO LIST! more

Bad Everything 8/12/2008

I have already read the previous reviews and frankly they have said everything perfectly. Noone has EVER answered the phone when I have called. They have an automated system that hangs up on you when you finally press the last button to get you to a customer service rep (if they actually have those people). They don't speak english on their computer system either. Finally, I was actually picked up by them involuntarily when another provider opted out of the business. The moment I recieved notification I tried contacting this company so I wouldn't get jerked around (refer back to answering system above if you want to know how that was resolved). I therefore contacted Reliant within 24 hours of the notification and was informed I can switch but not until my bill cycle came back around. So basically I was just screwed and forced to pay a rate at Amigo Energy's whim. They charged me 25cents a KW. I went and looked on their page and couldn't even figure out how I could personally sign up to be charged 25cents per KW. Someone please explain exactly how it is that PUC can allow the citizens to be screwed over in such a manner. I believe I did everything I could to avoid this scenario and frankly only feel I should have to pay their advertised price on their website. That price was only 17 cents per KW! Cons: Everything more

Horrible customer service, doubles the rate without warning 7/28/2008

I've been with Amigo for almost 2 years. It's always been a little tedious guessing what their hours are or when they may decide to answer their phones. They've recently decided to jack up my kilowatt hours to around 2x what they've always been (from 13.6 to 25 or 26 cents per kwH). I was very angry when I saw the bill they first did this on, and when they neglected to answer their phones the 3 different times I called, I wrote an email asking why the rates doubled, etc. (including the fact that Reliant and TXU were both currently offering rates for a similar plan at 13.8 cents, therefore making their new price in direct opposition to their slogan ""always cheaper than the big dogs""). Of course, this email was ignored as well, and so I sent a letter with my payment, which was also ignored. Pros: At first, they offered the lowest rates Cons: Doubled rates w/o warning, won't answer emails, letters and only sometimes answer phones, inconvienant hours more
