Great neighborhood vibe 2/20/2006

Recently tried this little place for the first time after waling by it for over two years. The staff is great and you can't beat the friendly patrons. The food was great but you definitely have to beware of the large portions, you can easily do two people per plate! Check this place out and expect to wait a bit for a table. more

Good Neighborhood Pub Food and Microbrews 8/24/2005

The 74th St Alehouse offers very good, simple pub food. The menu is not fussy at all, just well done interpretations of simple pub food. The pub has a great selection of local and regional microbrews. There are always interesting seasonal brews on tap and new brews appearing. The pub is smoke free if that is important to you. My only caveat is that even when completely packed, this is not the most diverse crowd by any stretch. But as a neighborhood pub with good food and microbrews, it is a great option. more

Gourmet Pub Food 8/20/2005

74th Street Ale house really can't be beat for moderately priced gourmet pub food. The ambiance is purposefully reminiscent of an English neighborhood pub. This is a neighborhood place without a doubt. The staff takes pains to get to know you and you'll see your neighbors there again and again if you live in the neighborhood, not to say that others won't enjoy it just as much. Their rotating list of beers on tap is outstanding. The small, but perfect menu, offers standards, including their famous chicken sandwich, as well as a nightly specials list that usually included a pasta and fish selection. 74th street is my favorite place to eat in Seattle, hands down. more

Fish tacos on Phinney 10/13/2004

The beer selection is excellent, the crowd is amiable and the food- a nice surprise! The fish tacos rock- though prepare to split b/c the portions are way too big. This is a relative of the Columbia St ale house. more

Nice place, good drinks 9/28/2004

My first visit here was unfortunately during an extremely busy Friday night. The pub was packed, and that's no mean feat since the dining area is a fairly large room. This was probably partly due to the group I was there with - a church community outing of about 20 people. However, the food was excellent (but a bit pricey), and the drinks were also good, even to my unsophisticated palate (I normally don't like beer). Because of how packed the place was, the staff were over-worked, and service was scant. The atmosphere was open and warm. I would come back here again during the week, or stop by if I was in the area and it didn't look too busy. more
