I don't usually bash restaurants too much. I try to post only positives, y'know. But I need to get the word out that Steak N Shake is not a very good place to go. The two times I went, once in Missouri and once in Irving Tx, the food was below average. The hamburgers are nothing spectacular or even good. They tend to be slightly burnt and have a strange taste. Strange in this sense means raw bacon taste + weird meaty taste. The fries are dry and overly salted. The shakes were above average, but they were also above average in price. The decor (1950's bop) is gawdy to say the least. Add to the whole experience the service of a fast food place (which, fairly enough, it is) and you can see how I decided on the 2 star rating.
I may stop by in the future for an over priced shake, but then again I have a QT right around the corner that serves nearly the same product at a cheaper price.
