North Grand mall might be the only mall in Ames, but it is not where you'll find most Ames shoppers. Because the store selection is rather nill, many Ames clothes-hogs will make the commute to Des Moines for a better selection. The best shops to spend some time at North Grand are The Gap, JC Penny and Younkers. Sears doesn't pack much punch and Claire's is old news. If you have an hour, kill it at North Grand, if you have two, Drive to Des Moines!
