This museum is odd because it is located in the middle of a neighborhood. It actually encompasses two houses and is the first school house built in Manhattan. The museum showcases memorabilia from Manhattan, from the time it was started by settlers in 1855. It has rather lousy hours though, being only open on saturday and sunday.
