Mysterious Galaxy is your marvelous mecca 1/17/2011

If you’re a fan of Martians, Murder, Magic, Mayhem…Mysterious Galaxy is your marvelous mecca. A genre-independent bookstore, Mysterious Galaxy specializes in science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense and horror. Walk into the store and you’ll notice the attractive shelf displays and tasteful décor that make for enjoyable title browsing. Bunny Hand, manager of Mysterious Galaxy shared a bit about the bookstore, “We promote all independent bookstores. The owners do a great job at getting authors in here.” With an emphasis on fellow small book retailers, Mysterious Galaxy comes alongside of Yellow Book Road, Warwicks and Bookworks in a collective effort to generate publicity. Paired with involvement in Comic Con, forming library partnerships and participation in book festivals, there is no shortage of establishment of community ties. Currently the sole Mysterious Galaxy located in Clairemont, Maryelizabeth Hart, Terry Louchheim Gilman, and Jeff Mariotte are co-owners of the bookstore. December 2010 was an important month for Mysterious Galaxy, in that their launch with e-books began, as well as an event held on December 11 that featured eight authors to sign books. Additionally, the bookstore collaborates with the smaller book retailers mentioned previously to compile a Wish Book, a thin booklet that highlights top picks, new releases and upcoming book releases. The customer loyalty at Mysterious Galaxy is rewarded with being added to the A-List. That is how you know you’ve soared into the galaxy. The 10% off purchase perk, also extended to those serving in the military is a nice reward for continued patronage. Mysterious Galaxy hours: Monday through Thursday: 10am to 7pm. Friday: 10am to 8pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10am to 5pm. more
