If you need BDU's, trenchcoats, fishnets, Special FX hair dye and the odd black t-shirt on a regular basis, the Garment District is essential. They've also got an incredible array of shoes, plenty of wacky tights, socks and arm-warmers, clothing made by local designers, vinyl skirts, silly hats and cat ears. They have a large vintage section, too. For Halloween, they've always got a good stock of costumes at a range of prices. In general, the Garment District is reasonably priced, especially the second-hand stuff. Some of it can be pricey, especially the custom-made items.

European Country Antiques is the perfect place to go for collectibles from the 19th century. This store is absolutely packed to the ceiling with unique finds and beautiful furniture. Armoires, dining sets and desks can be purchased here and are of the highest quality and craftsmanship.
The staff here is super friendly and can arrange for delivery of the larger items right to your home. This ecclectic antique store is one of the Boston-area's best.

I am in my twenties, but I still love curious George, I do not know if any one else can empathize with that, but if you can this is the place for you. This place is great for kids and adults alike. I take my three year old cousin here a lot, but it is really just a ploy so I do not feel like a loser whose alone in a toy store. They have things beside curious George memorabilia, but if you are ever in the area, I suggest you check it out.

Avoid this place at all costs. When I was out of town, a friend of mine was hospitalized. I found these guys online and had a bouquet ordered and sent out to the hospital. Despite the close proximity to the hospital (across the river) and the promise for that day delivery, when I arrived back home to visit my friend in the hospital and he had not even received the flowers. When I called the florist for answers, all they could tell me was that they couldn’t find the correct address. They gave me a refund but needless to say, I will never be shopping from them again.

You can buy your share of fish, lizards and rodents here, not to mention obtain all the accouterments of pet ownership, but Petco really has some nice extras. There's a little grooming salon in the back, for one thing. Also, there's the vaccination clinics for cats and dogs. Some Saturdays various shelters bring dogs and cats to the store to meet those looking to adopt. I've always had relatively good luck finding what I need there.

Besides being a Cambridge landmark, The Harvard Book Store offers a great selection and helpful service with the satisfaction of supporting a local, independent retailer. The store is stuffed with a wide range of books, from the newest releases to fantastic remainders at a discount price to used books just begging to be browsed. If something isn't in the store, the staff will quickly take steps to order it for you (the turnaround time for such orders is quick) or even recommend another place if necessary.

I got some sunflowers for my girlfriend's birthday through their website a couple of weeks in advance, but then a couple of days before the original delivery date I emailed them asking to have it delivered one day earlier, which they had no problem doing. They also sent me an email letting me know the flowers had been delivered, and gave my girlfriend a call to make sure she got them. Thanks!

This is definitely one of the best stores ever. It has an amazing selection of high quality food products from all over the world, including foie gras, chocolates, preserves, cheeses, breads, cookies, wines, teas, and more! This is VERY expense, but definitely worth it. Also has a quality sandwich counter.
