The Fogg Art Museum might be Harvard's first art museum, but it contains more modern works than do the newer museums like the Arthur M. Sackler. It is beautifully designed and houses an impressive collection of works. The permanent exhibit includes many pieces from Picasso as well as the area's best Impressionist collection. This museum is underrated, but has a higher quality of collection than does the Museum of Fine Arts located in nearby Boston. A gem of a museum in my opinion.

The Arthur M Sackler art museum houses ancient pieces of Asian, Islamic and Indian art. They have an excellent collection of east Asian influenced art and artifacts such as Chinese bronze and jade. They also have many nice sculptures, paintings ceramics and textiles from these cultures. Rotating exhibits from these cultures are also featured. The part of their permanent collection that I most enjoyed were the Japanese woodblock prints. For the small admission fee, it is nice to visit the other side of the world and get inspired by these different places.

If you need to get a back fast, just tell them and you can drop it off in the morning and pick it up at night. Besides laundry, they also do altering, selling money orders. I am satisfied with their services.

The Cambridge Center For Adult Education offers a wide range of classes on art, computers, languages, cooking, photography and more. (Visit http://www.ccae.org/catalog/courses/ to see the complete listings.)
I've taken three classes there so far and my experiences have been mixed. I took a beginners painting class and was yelled at by the teacher for painting while she was talking. I think she taught at grade school during the day and just couldn't make the shift to teaching adults who are in a class for recreation, not a grade. The wine tasting class was much more enjoyable (and the instructor did not take himself too seriously!)
I'll be back though for more classes -- they aren't very expensive and its such a great way to try something new.

Wow, was this place just completely awesome for day care services. I was searching the web for day care centers for my aunt since she needed some place to take care of her children. This place just completely caught my eye and you can even notice by its name, Cultural. The people there would not mind taking anyone from any ethnicities. I was searching other places and some of them were just looking for a certain race. Just shows me what places are very discriminative and places that were not. They had the perfect plan that my aunt needed and she was very pleases with their services.

Woolcott and Co is a small but dense knitting store in Harvard Square. Large range of different yarns here, many are high end. Almost all their selection is animal based fiber. So if you are looking for wool, merino, alpaca, whatever check it out. Beautiful stuff. Large selection of needles, crochet hooks, and other notions.
I went with my vegan friend and she was more looking for interesting natural yarns which they don't carry/carry much of.
Regardless the staff there were really friendly and nice.

Whether a social experiment or examining science with a wink, the MIT Museum is a great place to visit. The exhibit on the electric cars is an interesting theory on how a city's downtown might want to adopt a rent-a-car-for-short-distances plan without causing pollution or excess parking nightmares. One exhibit on zebrafishes to examine how genetically altering the fish might solve cancer was thoughtful. The ability to strip the stripes from the fish to either create albinos or spotted zebras can be seen as cruel or a bit Dr. Frankenstein. It can also be taken as a breakthrough to figure out what genetic code controls what. Kismit was a robot who reacted based on vocal tones. Looking a bit like the Gremlin characters, the experiment stirred the concept of advanced learning abilities in robotics. Can a robot tell your mood based solely on your tone and would it remember it the fifth time you scolded 'em? And probably the most practical experience was the Touch Lab's work that clearly was translated into training tools for surgeons who would use guided "arms" to conduct surgery (once you had enough practice hours on the simulation). Oddly enough, I remember its existence because of Grey's Anatomy. The holograms were neat. After a while, you are a bit overwhelmed by science in a good way. With great power and intellect comes great responsibility. It appears MIT students have done very well with their intellect.

Very friendly and professional teachers and staff members. Their small classrooms are perfect for studying English intensively. Their flexible program schedule allows student from anywhere around the world to join in at any time. They have many events and trips to let the students experience the American culture. Students are able to learn English while enjoying their stay in the United States. If you want to learn English, this is the best place to be. Recommended.

More
MIT has the reputation having smart students, yet perhaps saddled with the stereotype that they are too "nerdy" or "geeky". The truth is, while more than 50% of the undergrad student population is the valedictorian or salutatorian of their graduating high school classes, just about ALL of the students are involved with a lot of other extracurricular activities. You'll find the football captain as well as debate team captains. The best part of going to a school like MIT is the diverse sports team they offer. They rank either #1 or #2 in the nation in the number of varsity teams they offer. Not only do they offer the sports, but quite often they are quite good. Case in point, just this past year, MIT's pistol team won the nationals, beating out US Naval Academy (and all the other military and civilian schools). If you have interests other than purely academic, MIT is definitely a fun (and fine) place for a college education.
