a bone fide smorgasborg of japanese restaurants 2/19/2010

This place was AWFUL. But please....allow me to start at the beginning so you can get the entire visceral experience. \r \r I was walking along Main street looking for a place to eat a random lunch one day and I passed by Shogun. \r \r Okay. Walk into the ""restaurant"" (if it can be called that). There's a young man and a woman who look up at me with expressions between ""What are YOU doing here?"" and ""Oh, crap. Now we have to work..."" I literally took a step back like...""Are you...open?"" before the young lady gathered herself and asked me to come in. I went to sushi bar and asked for a roll of some sort and some green tea. The roll (something like $11 or $12) was a shrunken, lop-sided mess. And when the server put it down, she whispered to me, ""we're closing at 2, just so you know."" The time being, at that point, 1:45. I commenced eating the roll because I was hungry and now...in a hurry to leave. \r \r And now the crown jewel to this gorgeous flower-chain of flagitious dining events...what was previously 2 OBVIOUSLY unhappy co-workers has multiplied into about half a dozen. All sitting on the other side of the restaurant, eating what is presumably their own ill-prepared lunches speaking in very LOUD and animated Japanese to one another. That was the final straw. To say nothing of the awful, overpriced, food...what small semblance of ambiance was completely ruined by the very people whom I assume have vested interested in the success of that enterprise. \r \r What do you call a hole-in-the-wall restaurant with absolutely nothing good to offer? Shogun.\r \r more
