Dustin contacted my company with his concerns about the flooring?s installation capabilities at the home where he was currently working. We ask many questions when someone calls in with a difficulty so that we have a clear understanding of the situation and the most appropriate advice is given. I spoke with Dustin personally and felt that he handled himself very well by describing the situations and providing excellent information about the installation. I felt that our communication was one of mutual respect, with resolution being the goal of both parties. When a resolution was unable to be reached, I hired an independent inspector to go to the home where Dustin was working to discover the cause of the installation difficulties. This independent inspector is a private third party company that is by law required to be impartial. The inspector was thorough and discovered that the home?s humidity level was at 22%. Industry standards and the manufacturer both agree that the home must be in range of 35%-55% humidity for the health of the floor. Proper humidity is essential for all wood products in a home from cabinets, musical instruments, to flooring. Prior to installing a floor, the industry requires that the installer determine the home and the flooring to be at appropriate levels of humidity. The determination of the inspector was that the flooring was sound and found free of defects. The product in question is one of our most popular floors and has been a running line of ours since August 2006. To date the only claim against this flooring is the job Dustin was installing. Although it?s known that you cannot please everyone we do try and we wish Dustin all the best for his future installations.
