I'm also a big fan of the Gulfstream/Houston's restaurants. Although yes it is a chain, the quality of the food is always excellent and always consistent. Salads are crisp and fresh, and your meat/seafood are always well-prepared and delicious. The only downside to GUlfstream in my opinion is the ambiance...not a ""romantic"" place because it tends to get noisy, but the food definitely is worth it! I also love their ""flan cake"" which is seasonal, but if they have it on the menu, definitely definitely get it, it's my favorite dessert EVER, just delicious and so creative. Although it's not perhaps ""gourmet"" or as ""creative"" as some of the other restaurants in LA, it gets points with me for quality and consistency.
