Avoid eating at La Perla if you're in pursuit of *real* Mexican food. I'm a Texas resident and a married-into member of a Mexican-American family. This food is NOT representative of Mexican food.
The sauces are heavy on tomato paste and salt. They lack flavor or creativity and reminded me of my mom's ""hotdishes"" (casseroles for the non-Minnesotans).
Skip La Perla and come on down to Texas (or West St. Paul).
