Great Burritos on a student budget 8/4/2005

I discovered La Victoria from my husband who eats around the downtown area. This is one of his favorite places, well known for their “orange sauce” – I’m not sure what it is, I think it’s a mix of sour cream and various spices. Anyways, we love their Super Burritos which are packed with your choice of meat, beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, salsa and cheese for under $5 dollars. The informal setting can be described as an “upscale hole in the wall” with minimal décor and self service. Our favorites include the Carnitas super burrito, Chile Relleno, Tacos and Quesadillas. I think this is one of the few places that serve Lengua, cow tongue. La Victoria also has dinner plates, which run about 8 dollars. I believe the San Carlos location across from SJSU is slightly cheaper, our only complaint are the Chips used in the nachos, which seem to be generic round tortilla chips. more
