Mystikal Wonders is a cross between Hogwarts and the Shop Around the Corner and I mean that in a good way. A small shop but what it lacks in size makes up for in heart and inventory. Want to cast a spell? Get info on candle magic? Or just in the mood to smell some really patchouli incense. Mystikal Wonders carries everything for the little Pagan or Harry Potter in all of us.

I don't get to go there often but when I do I am always pleasantly surprised. They have a good range of programs. I've even taken a bellydance class there. I took a school trip there and loved it. They have beautiful grounds. The gardens are breathtaking. I even thought about having my wedding there. It's a great place for a date, to take your kids or just to get out and expand your horizons. It's very convenient to mass transit. Go see it!

i AM ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN. MY MOM LIVES IN STATEN ISLAND NEW YORK -HER NAME IS ROSE ROMANO. SHE LIVES WITH MY BROTHER ANTHONY. WHEN ANTHONY WAS THREE YEARS OLD HE HAD CANCER- HIS KIDNEY WAS REMOVED- IF YOU WERE TO LOOK AT HIS BODY - HE LOOKS LIKE A SHARK BIT HALF OF HIS SIDE AWAY. THAT KID HAS SUFFERED SO MUCH-HE SURVIVED CANCER AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF CHEMO- BUT IT LEFT HIM BRAIN DAMAGED AS WELL. WELL I FLEW BACK TO NEW YORK TO VISIT MY MOM AND BROTHER AND FOUND OUT THAT YOU - MEALS ON WHEELS- HAVE BEEN HELPING FEEDING THEM. tHANK YOU SO MUCH- ALL OF US KIDS TRY TO DO WHAT WE CAN TO THIS DAY TO TAKE CARE OF THEM - THEY MOSTLY JUST SURVIVE OF SOCIAL SECURITY. pLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR WHAT I AM GOING TO ASK BUT IF YOU CAN DO ANYTHING FOR THEM TWO AS FAR AS CHRISTMAS GOES - PLEASE DO IT CAUSE I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY MOM SO MUCH AND HOPE TO GOD SHE WILL BE HERE NEXT CHRISTMAS. I DONT THINK THEY HAVE A TREE OR ANYTHING- I AM COMING TO NEW YORK ON SATURDAY- AND THAT WAS ON A PRAYER BUT I PROMISE YOU - I AM THE TYPE TO HELP PEOPLE- NOW I AM ASKING FOR HELP FOR THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE.. IF I AM OUT OF LINE - GOD FORGIVE ME. MY MOMS NAME IS ROSE ROMANO - THEY LIVE ON TAYLOR STREET IN STATEN ISLAND. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THEM. SINCERELY, PATRICIA BOTTIGLIERI.

Many of us try to give to charity, and a lot of us work for companies who will match our charitable donations to nonprofit organizations. So if you're giving to charities, why not give to a charity that affects so much so close to home? Project Hospitality houses and cares for Staten Islanders who are sick, homeless, and barely scraping by. Instead of bringing your donations to the Salvation army, who will sell them to make money to fund their programs, why not donate your clothes and household items to Project Hospitality, who will immediately give them to people scraping to set up residences and clothe themselves and their children.

More
The New York Center for Interpersonal Development (Used to be known as Young People's Information Service - YPIS) does a great service to the community - they provide mediation of smaller court cases and community disputes. And there are a lot of community disputes on Staten Island, as you know if you live here. A lot of "get your tree off my property" kind of stuff that just bogs down the courts but can be so easily mediated into a solution. NYCID teaches classes in mediation, runs programs in island high schools to teach peer mediation, and lightens the load on our busy civil courts. Either donate your time or donate some funds to this great island program.

More
The Dr. Teddy Atlas Foundation was started by famous boxer and sports commentator (and staten islander) Teddy Atlas in memory of his father. This is a great flexible charity for underprivledged Staten Islanders in times of need. They have the ability to take on small and specific needs, as opposed to larger charities. for example the foundation just donated the money for new basketball courts at Goodhue Center on SI. Focusing on kids and sports, Teddy uses his connections in the pro sports world to make his kids scholarship sports camp very inspiring and fun to kids who otherwise wouldn't get a chance to go to summer camp at all.
Donate to this great charity or come out to one of their many fund raisers during the year.

The campus is huge and the school itself is very different then it was 10 years ago. There is a wider variety of student at CSI now. The campus is very nice but takes forever to travel because of the size of it. The radio station has also come a long way. They also have a decent gym. The continuing education department offers a wide variety of classes. It's worth checking out. I'm just not sure it's where you want to spend the next 4 years of your life, unless you can't get in anywhere else.
