Big Expensive Disappointment 5/20/2006

I went to 2 of the top stylists for 2-3 years and got a couple of good cuts, but mostly very bad ones and when I went back to ask them to fix it they were rude. Based on my observations, I think someone teaches all of the stylists the haircut du jour and then they give it to everyone regardless of whether or not it works with your hair or face. If it works, you're lucky, if it doesn't, you're not. For $100 a haircut I expect a stylist who will develop a really good custom style for me. I never did color. more

very expensive-no bow dry if nobody is available 6/23/2005

OK, pretty consistantly late, phone calls to announce the delay but still had to wait for another 30minutes while at the salon. Paying a good chunk of money would be OK but I'd expect more service, like complementary protein cure for hair to make up for delayed appointments instead of charging another $30 for it! Also annoyed about the supposedly complementary blow dry but ONLY if staff happens to be available. So I paid close to $300 for color, had my appointment 2 hours later, got charged an extra $30 for a treatment and had to blow dry my own hair?! The best part was a great haircut once, color is OK but the service and charge is not at all justified. If you want to be such a ladida high quality salon you better start acting like it and don't just suck your customers wallets. Pros: good haircut Cons: bad service, too expensive more

Worth every penny 2/28/2005

Cuts here are perfection, as is color. I constantly get compliments on my hair, which is why I've been going to diPietro Todd for more than 10 years. The stylists and colorists here are serious about doing things right. Which means getting the look you want (expecially color-wise) can be a process that takes more than one session -- especially if your hair is damaged or you want to make a radical change. But it will be worth every penny! Also, while the place is super stylish, the staff is very friendly, forthcoming and NON-intimidating. 2 hours free parking on the streets & in lots, I've never been ticketed when I've been there longer. Pros: expert cuts/color, friendly, bang for the buck more

on hair color 10/27/2003

I have been constantly looking for a very good hair color specialist. When I came across a raving review on this salon, I rushed over there hoping to walk out beautiful. Oh well, it didn't meet my expectations at all. When I had my color consultation, it looked like the specialist has understood what I wanted perfectly. At the end, I have a much darker base color, and the highlights are not visible at all. I guess you have to tell them to be more drastic, otherwise they do it very conservative. more

great cut 12/29/2002

I've gotten cuts by Monica and David -- their work is precise and grows out well. Because my hair is short, I have to get it cut often. The prices are high for maintenance cuts, but I go there when I need a style change. Pros: quality of haircuts, free parking garage Cons: cost more

Finally and end to my hair neurosis 7/23/2002

This salon is noisy, busy, and edgy, rather than the calm sanctuary that is popular these days, but that's just fine with me. I'd still come back even if they moved to a dive warehouse, because I always get a fabulous cut here. From the quality Rene Furterer and Terax products, to the obsessive precision with which my stylist cuts my hair, I have given up my erstwhile ways of desperately hopping from salon to salon trying to find THE stylist to stick with. Even when I lived in NYC, hair mecca of the world, I didn't have haircuts this good. Cons: price, crowded, parking more
