Air Tran Airways has had the best deal on flights leaving from Tampa. I don't know how close you are to Tampa but it may be worth the drive unless you take a flight out of Orlando. I have flown for $49 each way. They run many specials. A lot of last minute specials as well. Better doing atleast 7 days in advance and they do one way fares so you might get your flight back cheaper than your flight out. I've never had a problem with them. You can get frequent flyer miles with them as well. Don't expect great accomodations on the plane. I mean they are clean safe planes. Its like any place else. A cookie and a drink basically. I've never flown first class with them, so I don't know if they really get anything better or not. I like to just get to and from in a hurry and for a decent fare.
They do have some real good fares from time to time. Really good fares. Sometimes Continental will compete with them or US Air. So Check it out. I hope this helps.

I have flown Ted from Tampa to DC for 2 round trips in the last few months and have found them to be very good. They have arrived on time for the most part and service has been great on the airline. There is a good selection of drinks on the plane, and also they show a selection of TV shows on the DC route, which help the time pass nicely. Prices are cheap if you book early, but can get expensive as you get close to the date.
On the downside, there can be limited overhead storage space .

Independence Air has impressed me at times, but has had one major flaw. THEY ARE LATE SO OFTEN! I have had 2 hour delays, 1 hour delays, all in all not something which would make you want to be a long term patron of them. Sure they are cheap and can be convenient, but the lateness is irritating. Service is good, and otherwise they are fine, though there are murmurings of bankruptcy, so tickets bought for the far future should maybe be avoided!
