I buy and sell cars a lot (was an Auto Broker. ) One of my favourite dealers? The Graham Family. They've been great to this community, generous, and supportive- donating locally... so when I'm looking to buy I check local websites FIRST. If you have a problem you can go right to them and they take great care of you. They don't just sell you a car and you're on your own from there. You get great service and nifty accesories. You can't get that kind of support from strangers.
Pros: Robin Tidd, Internet Sales Manager.

Ian's Tire and Auto repair is a well-established business in Santa Barbara. They've been here for at least 20 years that I know of. They are very knowledgable about their work and are speedy as well. Prices for work are competitive with comparable places. The staff is friendly and busy. Good location too, where State and Hollister meet. I've had work done on my car at Ian's and have been very satisfied with their shop.
PROS: Very competent, well-established shop.
CONS: parking lot somewhat tight

I've definitely gotten lucky here like when my Jeep needed a new battery pronto on a busy preholiday weekend and they had one in stock...also have used them for replacement windshield wipers, general car fluids, small parts ie. blinker bulbs, seat covers, and other regular parts. Definitely don't expect to find parts for all cars or trucks, esp. specialty/euro/good quality aftermarket...if you want the best choice try the internet first and use this place for basic needs.
The aisles are really tight in here so have a list a make it quick...its hard to find the line near the parts counter so be aggressive! I nearly got into it with some woman who insisted on cutting in front of me in line because she had been standing in the wrong place and had to get up San Marcos Pass immediately! despite the fact that I had been there before her!

I have been going to Steve Bowman's shop for several years now with my old Saab convertible. Although he specializes in Saabs and Volvos, he fixes pretty much any type of car. He has always been very honest (telling me once, for instance, that if I couldn't afford to replace my steering column, I could add steering fluid every once in a while to deal with the very small leak). He's quick at repairs (but does a high-quality job), and he always looks for a deal for me. He will offer a choice between a less expensive used part or a new one. He gives reliable estimates and always keeps in touch via phone to let you know when things will be ready, and he has stayed late to let me pick up my car after work. I only wish my old car were as reliable as this mechanic!
PROS: reasonable rates, honest, good work, quick, friendly
CONS: no cons!

This place really saved my life when I got a flattire at UCSB and needed to get it repaired quickly for an appointment that same day in San Diego. Service was fast and the repair was free. I would definitely recommend them.
