I would go back here again in a heart beat! My 2.5 year old loved it! She would have been here all day. We were there when it was quite busy with school field trips, but we still had a good time. I have been told they change their theme yearly. There are two floors with about a half dozen small exhibits on each one.

This is a great museum if you want to learn a lot about the history of the presidents and other interesting facts. It's a great place for teachers to take their students on field trips. Highly recommend checking it out at least one time. It is a inexpensive way to learn about those that are in control of your country.

When you walk in , you are greeted by a giant skeleton (and I mean GIANT) of a whale hanging from the two or three story high ceiling. There are vintage automobiles, ancient artifacts and the list goes on. Your mind can just keep wandering right along with you. There are a lot of little displays throughout and you constantly have something to look at and learn about. The museum also houses laser light shows in their planetarium and carousel rides on their REAL carousel (it was restored and is truly amazing to see!) Definitely a place both parents and children will enjoy. They always have fun travelling shows going on as well. (Great gift shop too!)

I was at Carol Roeda's Studio on Breton last night. Right now the mall is getting a face lift, - but when they are done it's going to be beautiful. Carol Roeda's has the most unique things. My favorite would be the clay nativity pieces that you can buy. I have a complete nativity set and I'm now working on getting my father one. They are fragile and somewhat pricey - but oh so unique.

I remember when the GR Public Museum was a small crowded building downtown, how times have changed. The GR Public Museum offers unique traveling exhibits, many regular exhibits, and the Chaffee Planetarium. You can even ride on the Carousel overlooking the Grand River. It is a place that school field trips are often taken at, but there is always more to see. I love the museum and what it provides to Grand Rapids.

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t know a whole lot about art and art history. However, I really enjoy the collection that the Grand Rapids Art Museum has put together. In addition to their permanent collection, they are frequently host to traveling national exhibits as well.
I am impressed with the diversity of their collection and the way the art is presented throughout the museum gives the place a big-city feel that would not be out of place in New York. The Grand Rapids Art Museum is definitely worth the checking out of you are in the area.
