A few years ago my husband bought me a Half day Delight spa package for my birthday. I was so nervous about doing the full body massage. I want to ease everyone's minds that are worried about this. It was so professional and wonderful. We have done double full massage together 5 times now. You are both in the same room. For all of you husbands out there that just might be reading this!! Buy your wife this. She will love you dearly!!

When you walk into this Redken salon downtown on Ionia St., you are treated with a smile! You are instantly asked if you'd like coffee, tea, water, chai tea, etc... I've never really loved what a stylist has done with my hair until going here. Now, this is the only place I will have my hair done, and I've been going there religiously now for over a year. Also, they are so good about fitting you in around your schedule. They offer cut, color, waxing, and many other services. They are a little more pricey, but completely worth the hair on my head!

Design 1 Salon and Day Spa is an excellent place to go. A few years ago my husband bought me a half day delight (Hint for those husbands out there reading this) It was heaven. I was very nervious about doing the full body massage but it was so professional. My half day at the spa was beyond fantastic. The employee's are extremely nice and helpful.

If you are looking for a great place for your man to get his hair done, you should check out king's room. They are very reasonably priced, and they do a great job. They cut, color, highlight, and trim up beards and mustaches there. You can either walk in or make an appointment with them. The staff is very friendly.

I was on vacation in Grand Rapids and a family member recommended that I go to this school to get a pedicure. I was really pleased with the work that the students did and the price was out of this world. I would call ahead for an appt and wear flip flops. Also, they do not have real tubs and just use foot spas so be prepared. Well worth it for the price.

I have been going to Tanaz for 10+ years and would never imagine finding a new hair salon. They do amazing cuts and are always on the cutting edge when it comes to color, trends and cuts. Beyond cutting they are a full-service spa that offers everything from facials to massages to seaweed wrap and hydro massage. Their space is tranquil and trendy, with each stylist wearing black in all-white surrounding with hip urban music playing in the background. Prepared to be pampered... upon entering they take your coat, give you a robe and serve juice, coffee and water as you get pampered. The best salon & spa in Grand Rapids!

I wouldn't recommend Francine Vagotis. I went to her requesting dermabrasion for acne scars and to make my skin smoother. She said the CO2 laser was much better. I was left without pigment where she'd used the laser and a very noticeable line around my face. When I called for advice and to set up an appt. she wouldn't see me she would only set up an appt. to see the girls at her skin care clinic. When I went to that appt. a staff member told me I looked better than most patients! I demanded to see Vagotis. She came out angry and waved the consent form in front of my face and said don't you remember signing the consent form. This is what you look like after the CO2 laser. She said she could do a chemical peel on my neck to try and match up the color difference of course I'd have to pay. No way would I let her touch me again.
I have been to several doctors and the pigment loss is permanent. And I'm not her first patient this has happened to. I'm don't know why she keeps using the laser when she has so many unhappy patients and disfiguring results. I would check with the MI FOIA, Kent and Ottawa county courts before you make a decision to see her. I would NOT recommend her.

I recenly had a pedicure at Design 1 Salon and Day Spa. I was excited to have a relaxing break from my day-to-day normalcy. I ended up sitting in a room with about 6 other women, right next to the window for everyone walking by to see! That wasn't relaxing or enjoyable for me. The next time I want to spend that amount of money, I will make sure to find a salon that offers something a little more private.
