My husband and I have been to nearly all the sushi places our city has to offer. Fujiyama and Sakura are the best around. If anyone tells you to go to Shige instead, please be advised that they had horrible service and the sushi was nothing special. I would recommend Sakana as an alternative if you let people sway you from Fujiyama or Sakura. We are regular customers of Fujiyama and all other places pale in comparison.

i was thoroughly impressed with my waiter today. he was very friendly and attentive. he offered to answer any questions i might have over the menu, and checked back on me several times throughout my meal. his service really made my day, and i was extremely surprised to see bad service reviews on this site. so, just for that, became a member of citysearch to defend my awesome server! oh, and the sushi was great, too! I took half of my meal to my boyfriend for lunch, and he told me it was delicious. we usually go to much more expensive venues, so all in all, i am impressed.
Pros: fast, friendly service, very reasonable prices

Very bad service, we have given this place a try a few times thinking we just had a bad waiter that night. Nope, even my family members and friends have gone and all say the same thing, sushi ok service bad. There are to many other choices in town for the same price, better quality and better service. Dont waste your time or money.
Pros: By the mall
Cons: Bad service

While the non-sushi Japanese food is superb (beef wrapped in scallops, yum!) the sushi is the best I've had in all of Idaho. It is fresh tasting and unique. While all the traditional favorites are available, I like to kick it up a notch with a fancy specialty item with a southwestern sauce. Even with the wide selection to please all palates, Fujiyama doesn't seem to have an attitude about itself. There is no flash or glam or fancy cocktail drinks. Instead you can get a neat bottle of sake or a bottle of Japanese beer.
Be sure to save room for a deep-fried banana (or deep-fried cheesecake) for dessert though.

Fujiyama is not cheap, but when you're an inland state, you aren't going to find dirt-cheap sushi places like you would in Seattle or Portland. But what you will find at Fujiyama is sushi with the quality of that you would find in either of those cities! They have creative rolls as well as more traditional choices, along with a decent selection of sake. You can have a table, sit in a traditional Japanese dining room area, or even sit up at the sushi bar so you can watch the chefs at work. I prefer traditional Japanese music and setting as opposed to trendy settings when I eat sushi, so if you want a tasty and relaxing sushi dinner, check out Fujiyama!

I'm not a fan of sushi, but I am a fan of Japanese food! I was in search of a great Chicken Teriyaki, and decided to try Fujiyama.
There was a slight wait when we arrived, but that is not uncommon in Boise on a Friday night. We waited for a table and were seated about 30 minutes later. Since a mistake was made regarding our table, they tried to compensate us by giving us a free appetizer, soybeans.
The decor and interior of the restaurant is pleasant to look at but nothing really special One neat thing is the sushi bar, where you can see the sushi chef's preparing the orders. They put large orders on a big wooden boat and it looks very neat!
The food here was average in my estimation. The portion were a bit small and the food tasted o.k. Nothing spectacular. Prices are a bit high for what you receive.
Unfortunately, I didn't find the be-all-to-end-all Chicken Teriyaki here, but I will keep up the hunt!
