The discovery center has a lot of hand on science displays. You can make giant bubbles, learn about electricity and check out their current display. They always have something they are highlighting. Dinosaurs and robots have been some in the past. It is a bit expensive but fun for a field trip or something special for the kids.

The Garden is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year, but they get five stars for the amazing holiday lights display they do every winter. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than they do. They also receive high marks for working with Jr. Master Gardeners and providing space for various community organizations. Just wonderful!

One of Boise's Best Kept Entertainment Secrets....
The Overland Park Cinemas have been quitely working to improve the condition of their theatre. What was once a real dive has transformed into a very nice theatre. They just recently added new seats and carpet and the price is still affordable. At just $1.50 for kids (and even BSU students) it is a very cheap afternoon out!

Ceramica is a fun place to go on a date, with your kids, or with friends. You can pick from lots of different pottery pieces to paint. They have tons of choices. You use their paints also. They have lots of fun stuff on display for inspiration. The staff are nice and helpful if you need some help or ideas. The store is decorated really cool. I really like Ceramica and can't wait to take my kids when they get older.

Idaho Iceworld is the only place to go ice skating in Boise. The facility itself is really nice and clean. There is a food court available which makes it easy to purchase snacks.
Kids especially love to have a place to ice skate locally. The only downside is that it is on the very east edge of Boise, making it a quite a drive from Eagle and other western suburbs. They do have a lot of promotional events and specials that help make the drive worth it!

If you've been disappointed with other music stores, check out the Record Exchange. They have a huge selection of cd's, both used and new. Go on First Thursday, and you can get a used cd for $2 off! If they don't have a cd in (which is rare) they can special order it for you, and they don't charge you shipping. Plus the Record Exchange has what they are named for- records. You can find both new releases plus rare records. They also have a wide selection of dvd's, and the attached gift shop has many kitschy gift items and cards. The only problem is it's way too easy to spend too much time and too much money here!

Every time I've been to the funny bone I've loved it. Yeah the price of drinks may be high but all in all with the low price to get in and the fun entertainers they always seem to have, it's worth it. Better then going to some meat market dance club and hearing the same old tunes again getting all sloshed up and nothing to laugh about in the end but all the money you blew. I highly recommend a change in pace and some great laughs that you will find at the funny bone.

then the BAM is the place for you! Some of the exhibits are very interesting and thought provoking but some of the exhibits are rather strange and thought provoking. I recently took my kids and they enjoyed most of the museum although we made the guards very nervous! The admission price is fairly inexpensive and BSU students get in for free!

And the first place I go is Michaels. Michaels has a great selection of craft supplies from yarn (when I'm feeling like a happy hooker) to woodwork and plastic flowers for making super neat arrangements. The prices are nice and right now they are expanding their in-store selection. It's probably the best general craft store in Boise.
