VooDoo is located 51 stories up at the Rio hotel, which lends itself to some of the best Strip views in Vegas. Then there’s also the enormous 40,000-pound staircase that had to be...

Phenomenal View; Typical Nightspot 7/27/2005

This place has been great every time I've been there. Last week (05-13-05) the lower deck was being remodeled and therefore closed, but surprisingly the place wasn't too crowded upstairs. The view and open-air rooftop dancing are the main draws - as the lead review says it's nearly 360 degrees and spectacular - but not all. I despise rap but realize you can't avoid it if you want to be in a nightclub, but the stuff the VL DJ was playing was only juvenile about half the time. The live band inside - amazing just for the fact of being there, were actually very good. The drinks are OK too (hey, after Tiki-Ti on Sunset in LA *nothing* compares,) and the staff are great. There's even a "Cocktail" bottle juggler among them. Getting in is easy if you get there before 9PM or so, even on weekends. Highly recommended. Pros: Awe-inspiring view, Open-Air Dance Floors, Sleaze-free doormen Cons: So-so drinks, Rap/Hip-Hop-trendy, Need some Rock! more

Not worth it 9/15/2003

My boyfriend and I went there on Labor day weekend. He paid $20 and I was $10. Not worth the money!! Besides the view from the top of the Rio, there is nothing else. Inside there was a live band where a lot of old drunk women were dancing around. Outside was better, the dj was okay. If you take the elevator from the first floor up to the top floor then you don't have to pay cover, they don't even check. Pros: nice view Cons: not trendy, expensive more

Ambiance, music, view the best in Vegas 12/3/2002

High Above the City this is the most romantic place to listen to music in the city. Pros: view is awesome, great music, atmosphere Cons: wait on weekends, no dancing more

The best bar in Vegas 11/29/2002

I wish I would have found the VooDoo Lounge my first night in Vegas. Located 52 stories high on top of the Rio Hotel, this bar has it all. A view, live music inside and a DJ playing dance music on the outside. The drink price were average and the place was crowed with all types of people. The best aspect of the VooDoo Lounge is the darkness of it, that's so you can enjoy the view of Vegas at night. I highly recommend this bar if you plan on visiting Vegas. Pros: The view of Vegas, The variety of music more

Beautiful view and lounge! 10/26/2002

It has a very elegant feel to it.A great place to start your evening out on.Very romantic also. The service is great and the music is even better.I always enjoy taking friends and customers to the VooDoo.The food there is excellant as well.Bring your camera to take the best pictures of Vegas:) Pros: lovely view, wonderful music, good crowd Cons: nothing really more

Don't mind the doorman 9/27/2002

Besides being hassled for wearing leather sandals and a button down shirt, the doorman was quite the idiot. It looks like tennis shoes are ok, but leather sandals are "we'll let it slide this time". Sure. Whatever. Drinks are so expensive the only good thing is tossing the glass over the balcony. Get over yourself. This bar is lame. Pros: good drinks, destruction Cons: expensive, idiot doorman, idiot patrons more

VooDoo That You Do 8/31/2002

Towering over the Strip the view from the balcony was excellent. Voodoo was great to start the evenings festivities. Expect to see a range of people & ages. There is quite a turn around when it comes to the crowd; as I was waiting for the elevator to get to the bar streams of people were leaving but don't worry just club hoppers. Also saw Sophie B Hawkins there- pretty cool. Don't come here if you want to dance. Pros: balcony view, drinks more

Who could ask for more? 8/28/2002

I had an amazing time at VooDoo Lounge. The bartenders were extremely friendly and had some impressive flair-- one gentleman was able to toss a cherry in the air and catch it on a toothpick behind his back! The drinks were a little spendy, but to me it was worth it for such a good time. Hey, it's all about the experience, right? I can't say enough about the view, and all the people I met were wonderful. I wish I could have been seated in the V.I.P. area! I would definitely recommend this one. Pros: hospitable staff Cons: expensive more

Best of the best! 8/10/2002

Great food, drink, and super service, combined with a tremendous view. Larger than life! Pros: Food, Service, Attidtude more

VooDoo, need I say more? 8/8/2002

This place is awesome, great drinks, great music.... I had a lot of fun here... I went wiht my boyfriend, we had a blast Pros: cool, awesome view of LV, great atmosphere Cons: get your own drinks, pretty crowded, parking, walking more

Up on the Roof 8/4/2002

Wow, what a spot! I'm over 50 and went on a Saturday night when there were lots of young folks, all having a great time. The view is astounding, danced my feet off and the prices, while high, were not unexpected considering. The night we were there the usual elevators were not operational so there was about a 10-15 minute wait in line to go up or down, but worth the wait! Pros: view, atmosphere, music Cons: expensive, crowded more

Great 6/4/2002

Came to the Rio from NYC with the boys. Had a blast. The Voodoo Lounge was great - we were up there for 3 nights straight drinking and partying. Great view - would recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time. All those people complaining about drinks being too much or complaining about cover charges -- open your eyes -- you're in Vegas for christsakes! Shut up and enjoy the view and if you get there at a decent time there's no line. more

great view 5/21/2002

A large group of us checked out Voodoo Lounge on a Thursday night, before heading to Club Rio. You have to pay a seperate elevator fee, and then a cover charge. Prices are about $6-$8 each, and service is decent. Crowd there is mostly 30s. There is an indoors, which is pretty nice, but you should go outdoors to have fun. Amazing view of the Strip! Pros: awesome view Cons: pricey, off the Strip more

Weak cocktails 5/16/2002

While I have no problems with a dress code (it guarantees quality clientele), I do have problems with being cheated out of my alcohol. If cocktails are $10, be sure that it's actually worth the money. My drink was so weak, I would've gotten a stronger buzz by drinking water. The view, however, is amazing. more

  • In Short
The vibe here is voodoo priestess-meets-George Clinton, with spooky low-lit rooms, black walls etched with petroglyphs and incense wafting in the hallway. An open-air deck with spectacular views becomes a rooftop party with go-go dancers, fire twirlers, DJs, leather couches and two bars. Guests settle at small tables to take in the live music and sip bizarre cocktails with names like Truth Serum, Shrunken Head and Jamaican Hellfire--each served with ghost-shaped swizzle sticks.
