Old School Charm 10/26/2010

\r Celebrating our anniversary in Vegas we decided to check out the restaurant that locals insist is a one of the best. The place was jamming on a Saturday night but we were seated promplty and given a great table when we said it was our anniversary. And yes, I'm old school and believe in tipping everyone including the door and the busboy.\r . There is apparently enough people around (including visitors and tourists) that this restaurant is doing quite well despite the recession. There isn't a celebrity chef here just great food and a very capable staff. If you want a breath of fresh air without all the pretensions of the strip this is definetly a place to check out!\r We had the features steak and lobster tail combo, along with a bottle of California Cab and sparkling water. Thank god someone in the kitchen knows how to cook a MR steak and how to cook a lobster tail so that its not overdone. \r This is a grand restaurant, run by and restaurant pro named Jim who greeted us and then remembered to wish us a happy anniversary on the way out. We have returned to this place during the week and sampled some other items on the menu. if you like to find a great, unpretentous restaurtant this place is for you!!! more

Thanks 10/19/2010

This has definitely been the best Steak in Las Vegas that I have had yet. Not only were my date and I able to get a table last minute w/o a reservation - but our wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were given no attitude when we told the server that we wanted to share the bone in ribeye which was fab given our desire to try other menu items w/o emptying our pockets completely. Started off with the Blue Cheese Apple Salad which had these grapes (that I originally thought were olives until I bit into them) I can only describe as being totally delicious. Thank you! more

Worst experience ever 8/7/2008

Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Birthday Celebration Dinner. Reservation was for 5:45 pm and we were seated at 5:45 pm. Drink order was taken promptly, and many waiters were in attendance at our table, so much so, that we didn't always receive what was ordered. Once the order was taken, 45 minutes into the wait, we had to beg for the children's fries and our appetizer to be delivered to the table. They arrived at the hour mark. At the hour and a half mark, the Birthday Person got up and went to find the manager. We were in a room with ten other tables of patrons. All the other tables had ordered, eaten and left before we received our entree. Between us yelling at the manager, the manager (who was in tears, while yelling at us) and the waiter yelling at us, the food delivered cold and/or overcooked, we being overbilled with no compensation - it all came to a head - the manager tore up the bill. My dad attempted to pay something - but by then, the manager wouldn't accept any monies from us and everyone left upset - with leftovers.\r \r We guarantee we will never eat there again and we will tell all of our friends of the experience!\r more

Best Restaurant in Vegas 10/13/2007

I had my wedding reception at the Tillerman, in the Fireside Room. A private dining experience that seated my whole party of 18 people. The atmosphere was romatic, with low lighting and candlelight. We started the meal out with a wonderful salad that you actually assembled yourself. This salad was very fresh, cold and crisp. The dinner was outstanding. We had our choice between filet mignon, salmon and chicken. The majority of the party chose the filet, it was out of this world. Our waiter assistant, Oscar, did a fabulous job making sure everyones' needs were met. All the staff were friendly and accomodating. I would definately recommend The Tillerman restaurant for anyone looking for a special place to celebrate their special evening. more

A Gem 9/18/2007

The Tillerman has been around for a LONG time. It is a great restuarant to go to for fresh seafood and steak. We recently visited the Tillerman for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone at our table were all pleased with their entrees. We had several bottles of great wine that complemented our meals wonderfully. The quality and service were excellent! more

The Nuts 6/6/2005

I have visited The Tillerman on no less than 10 occasions; it has become one of my favorites anywhere. I have always been treated to excellent service, and the food was superior in all regards. My current favorite is the double-cut pork chop, but I have thoroughly enjoyed sea bass, stuffed shrimp, steaks, crab cakes and many different appetizers, soups and sides. When in Las Vegas, there is nowhere else I would rather dine. For you Texas Hold 'Em players, The Tillerman is ""the nuts"". Pros: Food, Staff, Ambiance Cons: Yet to find one more

$$ deceiving 12/15/2003

This place is definitely not for the young and rowdy who are celebrating a 30th birthday party and planning to drink. They were nice enough to accommodate us in the private room but we definitely created enough noise to bother the other patrons. We went with the intension of spending $21-$30 a person. That was for the CHEAPEST DISH (without desert or appetizer)!!!! I would recommend it for couples who would like a romantic dinner and plan on spending an average of $100 for a three course meal without drinks. The food was EXCELLENT and the waiters were entertaining. Pros: Ambiance, private room, great service Cons: cost more

Great Find!!! 7/1/2003

This is an outstanding find in Las Vegas, away from the strip and all the hustle. The food is 2nd to none, and probably the best in Vegas. Service is good, but could be improved a bit. This restaurant offers an excllent ambiance with a limited but good wine list. I will make it a point to go here every time I'm in Las Vegas. Excellent Meal! Pros: Great Decor, Outstanding Food, Moderate Price Cons: Hard to find, Limited Wine List, Mediocre Service more

Good Memories 6/29/2003

My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Tillerman in September of '93 and then returned for our 5th wedding anniversary in 1998 and are now planning our 10th wedding anniversary trip to Vegas and of course our dinner celebration at The Tillerman. We were treated like we were special each time, and the food, staff and atmosphere is wonderful. They helped make our wedding beautiful and our guest loved it too. Pros: Good Food, Great Astmosphere, Wonderful Staff more

Excellent Food and Service 12/10/2002

We went to this restaurant for our wedding scouting trip at vegas. I definately recomment this restaurant to everyone. Excellent service, food and romantic environment. more

Reliable Vegas Spot 12/5/2002

Good food at a moderate price. Service has always been good. Very quaint cozy bar. This is where we go with visitors to Vegas, and don't want to spend too much, yet have a good meal in pleasant surroundings. Pros: great service, reasonable prices, good food Cons: appetizer menu more

Will have to try for a regular dinner 12/3/2002

Went to a family wedding reception here in November, 2002. Our group was allotted a room at the back of the restaurant that was cozy (read tight seating) and warm (read uncomfortably hot). Throughout dinner, people were removing coats, ties and wraps in an attempt to find some type of atmospheric comfort. But the evening was not a total loss. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, accomodating and congenial. The six course meal, especially the entrees were done exquisitely for such a large group. The beef filet was tender and of such proportions that even my meat-loving boyfriend couldn't finish it. The salmon was grilled to a flaky but moist texture. The topper was the decadent warm chocolate cake that could give you a more than acceptable sugar coma. Pros: excellent waitstaff, warm chocolate cake Cons: tight table setup more

Bland and overpriced 9/13/2002

Non-smoking section was decorated like a Holiday Inn with starving-artists paintings on the wall. Tables were compacted in so tight I could barely get into my seat without disturbing neighboring customers. Shrimpcocktail included 3 shrimp, and side of plastic wrapped crackers for $15! You'd think for an expensive restaurant you'd get fancy field green salad, instead, iceberg lettuce with ranch, blue cheese, thousand island, or vinagarette. Waiter acted like vinagarette was something fancy. My wife ordered Lobster Fettuccini ($29) (got same meal from Paris for half the price) I got Atlantic Salmon ($25) which was devoid of taste. Included mashed potatoes, slightly better than instant mashedpotatoes from a box. I can get better salmon at OutbackSteakhouse, and they're mediocre, at least they price salmon at 15 not $29. Total bill went over $100. After complaining to the manager with no offer of ANY reimbursement, I left with complete disgust. Pros: None, None, And none Cons: Mediocre food, Holiday Inn artwork, Outragous prices! more
