People are Wrong 9/20/2009

I'm a regular customer at this restaurant and I've always enjoyed the attitude of the place. I read some of the reviews from this site and frankly I realize these people don't know how to cook or think that restaurant business is easy. I love many of the dishes they serve and I enjoy eating at their buffets; I think people need to stop being ignorant and realize that other Indian restaurants aren't as authentic as this place. The management has changed recently and it has improved 10-fold. Try eating at the other restaurants yourself and compare. The Tandoori items are amazing and I love the chicken Tikka Bhuna. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and will do anything to serve as fast as they can. What some don't realize is that there are more jobs than serving one person, so please learn to be considerate. Overall this place deserves good reviews because it's like eating with family. Pros: Authentic Indian Food more

Worst and very unhealthy food 3/14/2009

This is the worst Indian food i ever eaten. They serve just rice fried and mix with some chicken and say it is a Chicken biryani.Very unfriendly attitude of the owner. He looks at the customers,""Please go soon"".Food is all dreid up all the time. The lamb is full of bones, idili is all dried and any time you see there will be two or one.I would never recommend this restaurant in my entire life. This is the horrible food i ever had.Its too pricey for any Indian buffet.Try to avoid completely. The food looks very unhealthy and tastes very bad.I think it is a nepali restaurant.HORRIBLE food and very unhealthy for any one. Pros: Changed the previous name Maharaja to Tajmahal palace Cons: Very unhealthy food more

Dangerous and Unhealthy 2/5/2009

Very unhealthy and embarassing. We found a tiny moving object on our table. Don't plan on going there again. more

Worst Indian food in the world 2/19/2008

Never had worse Indian food in my life. The biggest joke I have ever seen. The people that have given good reviews of this place must be thinking of a different restaurant. Nothing that we ate was even remotely close to Indian food. The Tikka Masala tasted like they bought sauce from the Indian grocery and warmed it, then added chicken with red food coloring. The pakoras were raw, cold in the middle and flavorless. Raita was like milk with diced cukes and tomatos. Masala Dosa were falling off the plate with almost no stuffing whatsoever. A total farce. I see Indian people running the place, and think to myself, what in the world are these people doing, what a shame to serve such garbage. How do you cook Indian food and end up with this result. Are they even using spices ???? Very low class feel to this place, with silver duct tape holding some of the broken glass table tops together. Why even stay open ??? Sorry Maharaja, give it up, you don't even have a clue Cons: all more

Best Indian place in Cleveland 9/20/2007

This place was very average before, but the management has changed. Their Biryani's are exceptionally good. In addition they have good south indian food.\r Their food is Halal. Pros: Food Cons: Ambience more

Bad food, Bad service. 7/4/2007

I'm not Indian, but I am a fan of Indian food and this is easily the worst Indian place I've been to. Waiters seemed to forget I was there, and I never got a refill of my drink for an entire hour. I sepnt 15 minutes waiting for my check. I had 3 dishes, all of which were either ok or bad. My dinner cost me $25, and the service and food sucked. There are sooooo many better Indian places around. Cons: nothing good to say about it. more

AVOID THIS PLACE ALL TIMES 6/28/2007

I do not know how someone could give 5 star rating to this place...i am sure that guy is not from India or may be he never visited india and tasted authentic at all. I have been to this place 3 times because i live close to this place. The owner used to work in Columbus Udipi and i worked in Columbus JPMC for 2 yrs and i remember him from there. Believe me guys food is pretty bad, i eat roti, mixed vegetable curry, dosa, uthappam and chana batura(chana batura is so thick that he could have made an another one with it). The reason being people still go there is... there is no nearby indian restaurant at all and it is close to progressive with lot of indians.\r \r If you want to eat some good food then go to UDIPI in Parma. Pros: I don't see any Cons: I only care abt food. Food is BAD. more

Good Karma 1/12/2007

I have been there 2x since the new owners have taken over. This is one of the few Indian places on the east side I have been to where there are a fair amount of Indian customers eating. I have only been to the lunch buffet. This was some of the best Indian food I have had in Cleveland and comparable to some places I have tried in Toronto. The selection was excellent, 3 chicken dishes and 2 lamb dishes on a Saturday. The lamb soup was too greasy. The vegetarian dishes were wonderful. Excellent sauces. I was impressed that they had 3 soups. The food had a fair amount of kick and was not to sweet like some other ?Indian restaurants?. The Butter chicken was a standout. The only thing that bothered me was after eating one small plate of food I started to feel full. I can put down some food; I was wondering if there was a lot Ghee or clarified butter in the sauces. The service was efficient and the server was able to do a decent job of answering my question. Pros: Food, Palue. Parking Cons: None by my standards more

Likable Indian food 7/23/2002

I'd rate the food quite good having eaten in a lot indian restaurants where one thing tastes like the other at times. Each dish we tried, mostly chicken and lamb has its own unique taste and flavor the way it should be. the kababs are good although once we had tough ones but the next time onwards they were real tender and juicy. the ambience is dull though and sometimes the service is without a smile which is a turn-off at any restaurant. that maybe becoz we usually go at around 10 when we know other restaurants are mostly out of stuff. the breads are good too. Overall a good indian restaurant for a good price. Pros: good Punjabi/Mughlai, Lamb dishes are good Cons: dull ambience more
