This was to be my 1st spa experience, so I wanted to "splurge" a little. I signed up for the Platinum Package, which was to include Hydrotherapy Treatment, Pedicure & Manicure, Oxygen Treatment, Prescription Facial, Spa Lunch, Body Polish, Aeto Shampoo & Condition, & Ultimate Massage. I arrived a little early, about 10 min, & was catered to right away. My belongings were stored in a locked cabinet & I was asked to wait on a couch. I waited anywhere from 5-7 min before the 1st portion of my day, the hydrotherapy treatment (aka Jacuzzi tub). It lasted about 15-20 min, the water was tepid at best, and it smelled a bit too much like chlorine, which I guess could be good if you like that smell. After the "treatment", I was asked to wait yet again, this wait lasting about 5-7 min and went on to the 2nd portion of my day, the mani/pedi. And this was relaxing. I love pedicures, and this was a good one. She talked some, I listened and vice versa. It was an all around great, relaxing environment. After this, I was asked to wait in yet another set of chairs, this time waiting 15-20 min. After waiting, I was brought to the 3rd part of my day, my facial. Ok, this part was a bit painful, as she had to “extract” parts of my face to open my pores, but besides the pain, ha ha, it was not bad. Each different treatment she put on my face felt good and smelled great, the bed I was lying on was sooooo comfy, and I got a great arm/shoulder/neck massage while the treatments “set in.” After my face was stripped clean and was smooth as a baby’s bum, it was time for lunch and I have to say, this was the trickiest lunch I have ever eaten. I was offered a “spa lunch”, which was to include a grilled chicken breast and assorted fruit. What I got was a luke-warm, rubbery chicken breast that had been sitting out for a while and fruit. It was given to me on a tray, and I sat on the comfy couch, while attempting to cut and balance the tray on my lap. There was no table to set my food on. It was a very disappointing lunch, to say the least. After finishing my lunch, I got to sit and wait some more, about 5-7 min. Next in my spa adventure was the body scrub. The body scrub itself was not too bad, as the scrub consisted of brown sugar and oils, and smelled great, but I kind of felt like a little kid being bathed by their mom. I was then steamed in a Vichy shower. During the steaming session, I got a shampoo/conditioning treatment. Now, this part would have been great had I not been claustrophobic. In simple terms, it was torture. I could not wait to get out. The Vichy shower is the shower you lie down on, and there is a top cover that comes down to steam you. Once the steaming was over, I was instructed to hop out and shower off any excess sugar left on my body. My skin was so oily after the body scrub that I nearly fell out of the Vichy shower. When I hopped in the “regular” shower, my skin and hair were so oily, I could not get any of the oil off my skin or conditioner out of my hair. That part had me feeling pretty icky afterwards. The final part of my day was to indulge in the “Ultimate Massage” as it was called. This part of the day should have been named the “Ultimate Pain in the Neck!” The girl brought me into the room, which was dimly lit and relaxing. I lay on the table, face up, and she stood at my head. She told me to inform her if the pressure was too much. At first, the pressure was not so bad. But as she progressed on with the massage, it got more hard and painful. I asked her to ease on the pressure some, and she apologized, but continued on with the torture. Once I laid face down, she continued on. She pressed so hard on my arm at one point; I seriously thought it would break off. Now, once I had to switch to facing down, I had a bit of a dilemma. I am a diabetic who wears an insulin pump and didn’t want to disconnect it for the hour massage. So, I figured I would place the pump in the middle of my chest and it would be safe. I was so wrong in making that decision. When I got to the changing room to change back into my clothes after my massage, I had welts and indentions on my chest where my pump had dug into my chest. Still, almost a week later, my chest is still tender to the touch. I changed back into my clothes, which felt great, even though I was still oily all over, and left for the day. I noticed as I was leaving the parking lot, that I never received my oxygen treatment as promised in the brochure. I also noticed that only one of the “technicians” told me her name. I find this to be quite rude, as I am supposed to become relaxed around these people, and then I don’t know their names. All I can say is that after being stuck in a smelly tub, had my face peeled off, balanced my lunch on my lap, gotten oiled up and then beaten up, and made to wait forever between each session, I was glad to get out of there. The only good, truly relaxing part of my day was the pedicure.
