Great Cookbooks and Random Puttering 5/13/2006

Rodney's has a great, unusual section of used books. The history/science/social science sections are especially comprehensive, and they have some really unusual cookbooks I haven't seen anywhere else. Their tiny tucked-away sections on fashion and, for instance, circus show an appreciation for esoterica I appreciate. And they have some old academic-type psychology texts. They always have postcards and journals as well as a number of current, popular literature as well as matted art posters upstairs. A fine way to while away an hour. more

not bad, don't pay much for used books 8/18/2005

This relatively new used bookstore is fun to browse in. Comfortable atmosphere. All used, no new. Prices much higher than, for example, downstairs at Harvard Bookstore or the New England Mobile Book Fair. But any independent bookseller is a good independent bookseller. I've sold some books here and felt like I didn't get much for them, but maybe that's universal. A great place to spend an afternoon or two to check out their selection. Large aisles, relatively free of clutter. more

Books on the Cheap 8/15/2005

This bookstore on the outskirts of Central Square is a neat little haven of knowledge that has no real other competitors in the area. They have a good selection of fiction and a nice big shelf full of cheap and trashy paper back novels which are perfect for long flights. Prices are good and selection, although nothing spectacular is adequate. more
