Proto's Pizza is great! 9/24/2009

Love it! Great pizza and very attentive and careful with food allergy issues! The pizza is very good, although the salads are a little overpriced for the amount you receive. more

Don't sit at the bar 8/17/2009

I sat at the bar and was completely ignored. Horrible service. Went there on a recommendation. I won't be back. I was never even asked if I would like to place an order. I decided to head next door to PF Changs where the service and food was excellent. more

Poor Service 7/6/2009

My husband and I have gone to Proto's several times and each time it got steadily worse. First time, waiter shamelessly flirted with me in front of my husband, even to the point of touching me on the back without any invitation. He's lucky he didn't get slugged. Pros: Amazingly delicious tiramisu! Cons: Rude servers, chintzy on their plate sizes, mediocre pizza more

Stop by for a drink 7/2/2009

We ordered a small pizza and they forgot the Salami. We decided put it on cold when they brought out the forgotten meat it was one slice. They put one slice of meat on a 13 dollar pizza. We'll go somewhere else like the front door. Pros: outdoor seating Cons: prices more

Proto's Pizza Best in Boise 9/21/2008

Proto's makes very thin crusted pizza that is out of this world delicious. Outdoor seating, friendly service makes this a great place to come when you are near the Davis Park. Short bike ride away! more

Not For Me 5/31/2008

I guess some people like this style, but it's not for me. Pizza here is served on a very thin, very crisp crust. Kind of like pizza on Ak Mak. The toppings were just OK. Medium was more like other's small. It's a cool place in terms of having sidewalk seating and the management was friendly, but the food was awful. I give it a star because it looked like pizza. Pros: Outdoor seating Cons: Everything else more

Incredible Pizza, Superb service, and FRESH FRESH FRESH!!! 12/26/2007

My dad introduced me to Protos on a recent visit to Boise. The atmosphere was very cool, comfortable, and casual. One of the managers came over to talk to us and was extremely friendly, explaining the history of Proto's. So, time to order. The restaurant was pretty empty as this was afternoon, so we made our orders, and our pizzas were in front of us in no time. I ordered a Goombah, and my father and his wife had a Margherita. WOW!! These thin crustt pizzas deliver in a big way on fresh flavors, and don't leave you feeling like you're going to have to stop for a handfull of Tums. I wish there were more true pizzerias in Oregon, (especially a Proto's). I loved our visit to Boise, and I'm looking forward to Proto's again. It's wonderful to enjoy tasting great flavors without a ton of fake cheese and greese. Proto's service and food left a great impression, and I would recomend Proto's to anyone who truly enjoys food the way is should be. If you're a cheep neanderthal looking for the XXXL Value meal of the day regardless of taste, don't even open the front door, as you won't find a ton of crappy pizza for 9.99. This place is special and will always please a good pallate. Pros: Great flavors, wonderful Pizza Cons: There isn't one in Southern Oregon!! (yet??? ) more

God pizza, bad service 7/28/2007

We sat at a small table on the patio and waited a good five minutes before flagging down a waitress. She ran over, dropped a couple of menus on our table and ran off, while I shouted my drink order after her. (She hadn't even asked.) She stopped kind of suddenly like ""Oh, okay, sorry . . ."" Pros: great location, outdoor seating Cons: bad service, average food, no umbrellas or shade outside, loud music playing more

Great Value, Excellent Food, Attentive service 1/3/2007

I am a business traveler and am very particular on my cesaer salad. Proto nailed it. They have a tangy cesaer dressing and include the anchovies on the salad (or not if you ask). The pizza was some of the best I've had. If you like thin, light crust, this is your place. There are many different types of gourmet pizzas (capers, artichokes, kalamata, feta, pesto, the list goes on). I also gave the tiramisu a whirl since I was having such a wonderful dinner. My server recommended it. It was light, creamy, and not overdone with too much stuff. more
