Rude, insensitive practice. Beware! 2/2/2013

Terrible service here, especially from the femae doctor Hauer. I went in for an annual and came out spending $445. When I politely inquired as to why my bill was so high the receptionist shrugged and said "this isn't the SPCA."\r \r Dr. Hauer ran blood work on my pet without my consent and put a muzzle on my beagle thinking he was mean just to trim his nails.\r \r I will never be back or recommend this place. more

Progressive Medicine, Friendly Staff 3/7/2012

Dr. Kier and staff are wonderful at this hospital. They care for all 3 of my pets with compassion and great medical care. The hospital is clean and the staff is always friendly to my family, pets and myself. I would suggest this hospital to all those who have pets in the Hampton Roads area. more

Compassionate and friendly 5/31/2011

Princess Anne Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful place to take your pets. The staff is friendly and caring and the doctors are extremely compassionate and you can really tell they love what they do. The level of medicine they practice is much better than other veterinary clinics I've been to in the area and all in all, I would recommend them to anyone! more

Best Hospital in VB 10/20/2010

I've been coming here for years and I wouldn't take my Mastiffs elsewhere. I'm a breeder and can definitely recommend this practice for great care and customer service. more

Great Service 10/13/2010

Excellent care. Dr.'s Hauer & Kier really care for the well-being of my pet and their level of service and compassion is outstanding. more

Do not trust this office! 9/17/2010

Do not trust this office with your pet. They do not care about helping you and are not interested in the care of your animal. I have never in my life encountered such rudeness and an overall inability to make good judgment for my pet. Save yourself and your pet and go somewhere else. more

Trust your pet to PA Vet! 9/8/2010

So many veterinary hospitals in this area, but Princess Anne is in a league of their own. The girls there are so friendly and caring and the DVM's are superb. Wouldn't go elsewhere. more

Wonderful 9/8/2010

Great care, exceptional service, I love these vets! I've been coming here for 4 years and never a bad experience. more

Great practice! 8/23/2010

This hospital is the best in Virginia Beach, bar none. The DVM's really know their stuff and I always feel welcomed when I take my puppies in there. They are very well-informed and only use the latest technology in taking care of my animals. They've been around since the 70's and I won't go elsewhere. more

No surprise charges, exceptional care 8/14/2010

San Diego, CA\r 5 star rating\r 3/22/2009\r \r This is the only place for my baby. Here your pets get treated like family members. Dr. Kier is wonderful, he answered all my questions, and really worked well with my easily stressed out kitty. Not once did he try to push her. This guy really cares about animals, how much better then that can you get? I don't think there are two better vet assistants anywhere. You would think they were treating one of their own pets the way they treated my baby. There is nothing about this place I don't love! The prices are reasonable, but even better they are explained to you. No surprise charges here. If you want to go somewhere that puts your pet above all else, this is the place. As long as I am in Virginia, this is the place for me. more

5 Star Clinic 8/14/2010

My sheltie and westie love the vets here. It's a beautiful hospital and everyone treats you like family. The girls do a great job of making Jobee feel like he's home (he tends to be nervous) and the Vets provide excellent care. Worth the visit for SURE. You will be back! more

Great Practice! 8/14/2010

I would recommend Princess Anne Veterinary for all my friends and family. The Vets are very professional and the staff/management are friendly and courteous. Great job guys! more

Poor Management & decline in Services 3/19/2010

First, I will comment that the inside of this hospital is kept very clean and always smells good. The assistants and technicians that I have dealt with have always been very knowledgeable & friendly and you can tell they love & care about animals, but that is where my good comments end. \r Many times I have been "greeted" by a receptionist with a rude attitude that made me feel like I had done something wrong just by walking in the door.\r I also agree with the other posts regarding the inflated prices and lack of trust in the Veterinarians there, because I will do anything to keep my pets healthy, & it seems that they take advantage of that & do procedures that are not truly needed but yet when my dog truly needed surgery on his back leg I was told by the Vet himself that he is not familiar with that surgery and has not performed it before & that I would need to see someone else for that! I appreciate his honesty but wonder why he is not capable of doing surgeries... isn't that what t more

Misdiagnosis 2/27/2010

I took my cat to Princess Anne hospital because she was sick. When we arrived, I was told I needed blood test run. I agreed because my cat was sick. They also did an initial exam. Afterward we were sent home to wait for the results. I got a call a little later telling me that my cat could be in the beginnings of kidney failure and they recommended I buy a special food from them. I took my cat back because she was no better and this time they gave her fluids and sent her home again. A few days later I needed to take my cat back again but after spending $800 dollars already I ask if I could bring my cat in and then pay the bill on payday. Princess Anne vet would not see my cat again until I could pay the day of service. I took my cat up to the SPCA clinic with my test results in hand from Princess Anne vet and had her looked at. The vet there told me half the blood work was not necessary and that even though my cats blood work numbers were off a little, it did not indicate kidney failure more

Place has changed for the worse in the last year or so. 11/20/2009

Six months ago, they told me my dog lost > 25% of her body weight from the last visit and she requires immediate blood work or the dog could possibly die. That didn't seem right to me. If anything, the dog looked and felt like she gained weight lately. I weighed her at home and she weighed MORE than her last 6 month appointment. Perhaps my scale is off I thought. Get a voice message on home saying nothing wrong with the dog, everything is normal. $200 dollars wasted. Six month later we go for the normal 6 month appointment. Wow, looks like a new scale this time. Perhaps one that works correctly. I've been going there for regular visits for years and usually paying between $100 - $200 for normal six month visits for one dog. When she said $300, I was in shock. The office visit with 6 months of Sentinel was $300.00 for one dog. For one dog? One dog. We never really liked the clinic but it was convenient for normal 6 month visits and heart-worm pills. However, in the la more

MY DOG IS DEAF AFTER THEY CLEANED HER TEETH. 2/15/2009

I took my sheltie in for teeth cleaning and \r she has been deaf since I picked her up. They\r charged me $751.00 , the bill was padded with\r charges like fecal exam, since when do you do\r a fecal exam to clean a dogs teeth. Also, they \r cleaned her ears and charged me without asking \r me. The worst part is that she is now deaf and they have not once expressed any kind of caring that this has happened saying they didn?t want it to look like they did anything wrong. They have refused to refund my money for the same reason. BEWARE! They have certainly liked my money over the years but as soon as something horrible happened while under their care they have not been there for my sheltie at all. Shame on them. more

Looks can be deceiving 5/28/2008

I agree with the post that describes the enormous increase in prices. The staff Is very friendly, and they Do serve free soda and juice in the waiting room, but far outweighing this, we have been less than impressed with the care recently. We had our 9-year-old cat in there two weeks ago for vaccines. She is now, two weeks later, barely able to walk and continues to decline. She was completely healthy as far as we could tell going in. As of today, I called twice to ask for further recommendations and did not recieve a return call. This is ongoing and i do not know without doubt that there was any negligence on their part, but the apparent lack of concern and $300+ we have spent so far on the shots and then tests to figure out why she is now so ill are not sitting well with our family. I would go elsewhere... we will from now on. more

Princess Anne Vet 10/27/2007

This vet hospital exceeded all of my expectations! The staff is so friendly and caring. They have called me to check on my pet and the doctors really care about my pets and my family. The prices seem high at first but you get what you pay for. They teach you and send information home with you. I even had the hospital manager call me to see how my first visit was! I would tell all my friends to switch vets. more

Used to be great, but not so great anymore 7/29/2005

This used to be a wonderful facility with friendly, caring doctors and reasonable prices. However, over the years, there have been enormous turnover in vets, so you often get a different vet each time you go. While they are friendly, I must say that prices have gotten absolutely outrageous. They wanted over $300 just to pull my dog's tooth at her last checkup. I do everything possible to care for my dogs, but when faced with choosing between spending that kind of money on my dog or spending it for health insurance for my two kids, I have to choose my children. I even started buying my dogs' prescriptions elsewhere whenever possible because their prices were so over-inflated. PROS: Friendly staff, caring with animals CONS: Nice place, but exceedingly expensive and too many changes in staff more
