A great place for a basic men's haircut 4/19/2009

This place has real character, as do the barbers. If you're a man who is tired of paying big city hair designer prices for a basic haircut, this may be your answer. The place looks the way it did last generation and if you get in there on a Saturday, you'll meet the 80+ (?) year old owner who says what he's thinking as he sweeps the hair off the barbershop floor. Great Old Fashioned Barbershop 5/15/2006

My husband and son have been getting their haircuts here for almost a year and rave about the great basic barbering here. My son gets a basic boys' crew cut and my husband, who has very thick straight hair, and is very picky about how it looks, gets it styled in a very straightforward style. Excellent prices. It's a Classic 5/12/2006

President Barbershop is exactly the kind of place that comes to mind when one thinks of a classic barbershop: 4 chairs, lots of banter, a 20-minute haircut at reasonable prices. As with any shop, the haircuts vary from barber to barber, day to day. I've found that it's best to find one or two barbers that cut my hair the way I like, and to wait for those guys to be available. The whole gang is cheerful and experienced.\r \r Best to avoid Saturdays, if possible. They don't take appointments, and the line can be out the door. For this very reason, weekday mid-morning and mid-afternoon are often the least crowded.\r \r This seems to be a great place to bring kids, too. \r \r Parking can be a challenge, as it is with many businesses in downtown Palo Alto. more

Great Hair Cuts 5/10/2006

My husband and two sons have used this classic barbershop for over 10 years. I like watching the Stanford football players getting their cuts! The barbers are a jovial group and always welcoming. more

Great Haircuts, Great Atmosphere 4/26/2006

When you walk into this downtown Palo Alto barbershop, you feel like you've stepped into a different era. '50s? 60s? 70's? Just pick a decade.\r \r The staff has been there for generations. They're terrific with kids, who get to sit in a smaller seat in the big chair.\r \r Prices can be cheaper elsewhere, but a haircut with style here will last for at least a few months more
