The problem is that the managers that initially give you the estimates for the work misrepresent the charges for the work.
The estimate appears fine on paper. Since everything on paper looks fine, I signed it. However, afterwards, all of the pricing changed drastically from the original quote.
Before they let you pick up your computer, you are then told that the price for repair is in fact X instead of Y. The price for the actual repair is much higher. And if you don't like the price, you can get out of their store. And leave your computer with them and they will sell it in their shop. Must be how they end up with all of those computers for sale.
I was able to reason with them. I still do not know how I got my computer out of that place.
I also found out that an expensive cable that the front managers put on my bill was not even installed by the back technician! I found this out because I spoke to the technician about this. (They do not like it when the customers speak with the technicians, by the way.) This part was never ordered by them as I picked it up the same day and it was an older part but furthermore the technician confirmed himself that he did not install the part. Yet the front manager sounded like he was doing me a favor by taking it off my bill when it was never installed in my computer in the first place!
So yes, it is true when people here are saying that they paid for services they never received, because that almost happened to me as well. To hear this manager tell it, he was doing me this great big favor taking this nonexistent expensive cable off my bill, the one he was holding my computer hostage over! Well, that was only PART of the disagreement.
Absolutely I agree with the other reviewer who said that they are rude. However, they start out as being very nice. It is a ""good cop, bad cop"" approach. The one guy who you first talk to is like the good cop. Then the other guy who ends up screwing you over with the prices is the bad cop.
I will never go back to this place and I would recommend that you steer far, far away from here. They either purposefully try to rip people off, which is what I truly believe they are doing, or the front managers are not communicating with the technicians, which I do not believe (i.e., I think they really DO communicate with the technicians as it is a very small shop so how could you not communicate with them?). It is a small shop as in, one or two technicians and one or two front managers. If you can't talk to people in a shop that size then there is a serious problem.
I will also add that the one guy (it's either Paul Gamache or Brett Kappes) who really sticks it to customers with the prices (the repair prices that initially seem low, but by the time you get your computer they have magically risen much higher) does not like his job, nor does he like his customers. People like that should not be in a customer service field. The other manager just sits back and watches as this guy rips off the customer.
Do NOT go here!!
