Positive Experience 8/5/2011

My son started going to NTCA last year and was in a 2 year-old classroom. His teachers were amazing! They were loving and patient when he experienced separation anxiety. When he adjusted, he always came home happy having had a fun time with friends and having learned a lot. I took note of what the other parent has said as we are not into fire-and-brimstone religion but are rather liberal-minded Christians (who believe other religions are as valid as ours--just different paths to God). Personally, my son hasn't experienced religious teachings that were scarey to him--only positive messages about how God and Jesus love him and how to treat others etc. Most of the teachers here are very warm and loving. Advice: Find out about the teachers from parents, observe their classrooms and request who you like best. more

Nice, although not my 1st choice. Christain-based teachings can be a bit extreme at times. 1/12/2009

I have sent my children here and for the most part like the school. A few exceptions: they need a pick-up and/or drop-off system. Many moms are pregnant and have small children, including the student , and it's very diffiicult and inconvenient to unload everytime merely to walk your child through a crowded hallway to get her to class. They do this during VBS, why not during the school year?\r Also, their Christian teachings go a bit too far. My son was ""scared of the monster"" that his active imagination conjured up during the telling of Adam and Eve. At Halloween they send out letters regarding pagans, satan and the Catholic church, and at Easter they do not just explain that ""Jesus died and was resurected."" No...they go further to explain how he was nailed to the cross, etc.. NOT good for a young child (this would be rated PG if it were on cable). Also, I've liked all the teachers until this year. The teacher my child has this year is not particularly sweet, and she sends home notes that are misspelled and with improper grammar usage (i.e. telling me I should work with my child on ""puzzels"").\r The plus sides: they don't offer VPK so the PT pre-k for 4 yo's is nice. They have nice performances for Christmas and in the Spring and various activities throughout the year. My kids have attended other church-based preschools in the area, but this one goes a bit too far and needs to teach more age-appropriate Bible material. Pros: class size, convenient location, playground, performances Cons: a bit extreme in their teaching of Biblical events, no pick-up or drop-off like they do for VBS, canot utilize playground after school more
