Avoid it! 4/10/2009

I went in for a walk in appt in Sept 08, and got a woman named either Betsy or Margaret (sorry I can't remember which.) She did an excellent job waxing my brows-probably one of the best waxes I have ever had. When it came time to cut my hair, she asked open ended questions about my hair texture, routine, and what I wanted the end result to be. Since she did so great w/ the wax, I trusted her. We agreed on long layers starting at my chin. I warned her that my hair is wavy, and tends to bounce up once dry. Everything seemed like it was going well, and then right at the end, she took a handful of my hair and held it over my head.... and then just went nuts w/ the scissors and chopped in additional layers. The end result is that I looked like a mushroom-- I had ONE thick layer starting at my NOSE (not chin as we discussed) and then the rest of my hair was 4 inches longer. Seriously, a mushroom! For 6 months, I have had to get cuts to even out the ""layer"" and make it blend in w/ the rest of my hair!! Worst. Cut. EVER! I called the salon after to let them know, and the person didn't even apologize. I asked if the sylist that I had was new, and she said that she was new to that location, but had been cutting hair for 20 years. Then she asked if I wanted to keep my next appt or cancel. I cancelled. I have been so annoyed, and didn't bother to call the corp office b/c of the indifference I received when I called the salon. But I""m still annoyed, and I want to share the experience so that others can avoid it. Pros: walk ins, price based on level stylist Cons: stylist didn't listen to my needs more

HORRIBLE 12/3/2007

This place should really be avoided. I went in for a trim and came out with a much shorter and different hair cut. Not only did I not get what I wanted, but the hair cut looks horrible. I literally have not worn my hair down since it was cut. While cutting my hair the ""stylist"" chatted on about how she could get creative with cutting hair and how if I went to another stylist they would not know how she cut my hair.... That was when I started to get a bit nervous. I cannot say it enough- AVOID this place. Cons: EVERYTHING more

Good service, run-of-the-mill results 2/11/2007

I tried this salon on a whim during their 25% off color week. Prior to my appointment, I had very cool multi-dimensional hair and wanted the same result from Mitchell's. My stylist took one look at my hair and said it had ""too many colors"" and that she would just highlight my hair and it would look great. Well, she did that and it's too light - it washes me out completely. I've seen several friends since then and no one has commented on my hair (which is not a good thing - my last color job at Haircolor Experts had strangers stopping me to ask where I got my hair done.) The cut at Mitchell's was much better - my stylist really took her time and worked with my medium-length (growing-out) hair to give it some shape. The only downside is that I told her I wanted to grow the layers and she cut them shorter so the cut would look better......oh well. All in all this was an ok experience with average results. To top it all off, my bill came to $130 for highlight and a cut - and that was AFTER the 25% discount! Needless to say, I'll be going back to Jennifer at Haircolor Experts in Cameron Village - the attempt to save a little money was totally not worth it. Pros: Convenient mall location, nice product selection Cons: Average results - no one seemed to be doing anything terribly creative more

Avoid at all cost. 6/30/2006

Don't go here if you are looking for a new stylist, it may be a huge mistake! Since I had been trying to grow my hair out, I made myself very clear about what I did not want, (shorter hair). I definately did not want bangs! I hated my haircut, and I think about how much I dislike it every time I look in the mirror. To add insult to injury, the manager offered to cut more of my hair off when I met her in tears for a consultation. I will never go to this establishment again. I would rather pay 5 times as much for haircut that I want instead of one that someone decides that I should have. Remember, the management is completely supportive of the stylist chopping your hair any way they see fit. more
