Editorial review from Citysearch 3/18/2013

I can't believe that I had the same experience as the October review below. I called them in for an issue and a simple issue. The old man could not fix it after an hour and said I needed to call someone else. This was at 4:02pm on Friday evening. \r \r Take my advice and go elsewhere. They have no business being in business and wasting people's time. Now I get to wait two more days for a qualified repair man to come and that stinks.\r \r NOT RECOMMENDED!! more

Not so fast -- we found them helpful 7/10/2011

Mike's just sent someone out to repair our dryer. We found them to be cooperative, and helpful in explaining how the small laundry area makes it hard to keep the hose from getting blocked, which causes a risk of burning out the heating element. We should've called them when we had a problem before. It cost $146 to fix a dryer that cost $441 to buy. I would definitely call them next time we have trouble with an appliance. more

Rude Customer Service 11/4/2010

Called to inquire about his services, such as do you sell appliance parts. He was very rude over the phone! Its an example of the big guy making the little guy feel even smaller. The way the economy is, it seems like small businesses would try to make the customer happy. I will not recommend his services! more

Disappointing Service 10/6/2010

We had good service the first time we had them out to repair our Whirlpool ice maker, so we called them when our washer went out. The man who came out didn't know how to fix. He complained about the location of the washer, the fact there was a shelf above the washer. He went as far as to tell us ""The problem is people buy these machines with all these bells and whistles and the manufacturers make them where nobody can work on them"". My washer is not bottom of the line, it's above mid-range, but doesn't have electronic panels, etc. So, it's relatively a basic machine.\r \r He said he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and would have to talk with Mike to see what he thought. This was on a Friday afternoon, and he wouldn't be able to get back to us until Monday. If they couldn't figure it out -- WE would have to call Whirlpool and have them send someone out. I asked if I could call Whirlpool and put him on the phone and he wouldn't do that nor would he call someone else to help him diagnose the problem. \r \r I called someone else, they were able to fix -- the problem was a loose wire. Had the repairman from Mike's brought and used a volt meter and spent time diagnosing, he probably could have fixed it. But, it was apparent it was close to 5:00, Friday and pay day and he didn't want to spend the time. \r \r When we called on Monday to let them know we had contacted someone else and let them know -- the response from the receptionist ""I don't blame you"". I would have thought we would have received a call with an apology from the owner on his repairman's attitude, but we've heard nothing. Very disappointing!! more

Excellent service 5/10/2010

Seems like the only time people write reviews like this is when they're mad. So the reviews are always negative. Mine is positive. We have used Mike several times over the last few years--for washer, dryer, ice maker. All different brands. It took him one visit to make the repairs with no call backs. Today, I called him about our busted microwave. Upon hearing the age and the problem, he told me he'd be glad to come out, but it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one. He could very easily have come to my house, made a show of running a bunch of diagnostics, and then told me the same thing--while handing me a fat bill! I recommend Mike's highly. Pros: Responsive, knowledgeable, inexpensive more

Quick repair to my holiday dispair 12/26/2007

We came home x-mas night to a fridge on the fritz. I called 2 local and 1 national business and Mike was the only one who could work me in before Thursday. I called his business at 9:30am and Mike called me (at work) at 2:30pm to let me know he was on his way to the house. Unlike many of his competitors he didn't nickle and dime me to death with diagnostic charges, inflated parts fees etc and he respected my time; I didn't have to leave work for 4 hours waiting for someone to show up. Less than $100 for his time and the parts needed. In addition, he was very sweet to my two nosy cats! \r This was a 5 star rescue! more

A holiday rescue 12/26/2007

We came home x-mas night to a fridge on the fritz. My Mom suggested Mike's Appliance and despite the nasty reviews on here I trusted her advice. Due the the holiday, I admit I called 2 local and 1 national business. Mike was the only one who could work me in before Thursday. I called his business at 9:30am and Mike himself called me at work just 5 hours later to let me know he was on his way to the house. \r \r Unlike many of his competitors he didn't nickle and dime me to death with service visit fees, diagnostic charges, inflated parts fees, etc and he respected my time; I didn't have to leave work for 4 hours waiting for someone to show up. Less than $100 for his time and the parts needed. In addition, he was very sweet to my two nosy cats! \r \r Mom knew best; glad I didn't trust a few negative reviews. Pros: Timely service, flexible schedule, fair service charges, fair parts charges more

Liars 9/11/2007

I made a call for them to come look at a dryer. They told me that the dryer needed a new motor. I called another company and they said the dryer only needed new rollers. I did not receive notice that I would be charged a $75 service fee just for coming out until I received an invoice in the mail. They are now threatening me to turn it over to collections. Bad company, bad business, and rude people. Cons: Bad Business more

No free quotes..beware 6/21/2006

Charged me big bucks for coming and inspecting an appliance with no prior mention of the charge.\r That is unethical. Pros: Service man knew what he was doing Cons: No free quote, no one answers phone more

Not a good value 10/5/2005

Came out for a service call ($65) and did not fix problem. Did not inspect back side of fridge to find the problem. After fridge problem returned in a few days (on the weekend), I found he problem myself in 15 minutes (I'm not a fridge expert) and called to get a repair scheduled, was told I would be charged ANOTHER $65 fee plus part costs. If its a simple repair and you can't repair yourself call someone else or buy a new unit. You will save money. Cons: expensive, incompetant more
