Great time 11/27/2008

We haven't been to Metropolitan in some time. Our last experience was not bad but completely unmemorable. Food.whatever, drinks.fine.service.same same. Decor..bring.music.typical. But we were very pleased with our most current visit. The new chef has a good following and they have a good rep currently for martinis so 4 of us went on a pretty wintery nite a week ago. Pros: food, price, service, drinks Cons: music, decor, traffic more

Worst food ever! 9/16/2008

When I moved to Ohio about 2 years ago, this was one of the first restaurants my husband and I ate at. I was pleasantly surprised to find such good food in such a dying city. The most memorable parts of the meal were the mussels (which I don't think are on the menu anymore) and a FANTASTIC chocolate dessert. Pros: Location Cons: Bad value for money, tasteless food. more

worst company ever 11/18/2006

I used to be a regular guest at the metroplolitan, but will never return. I along with several friends would frequent this restaurant several times a week. Recently, however we learned that the company had let go the best manager we had seen in years. This restaurant has changed general managers more times than most people change socks. They finally had one that knew what was important, knowing your clientele, and they let him go. Chris fazio was his name, and he was the meaning of the term hospitality. Chris would make it a point to greet every regular and knew them all by name. If you were not a regular, by the time you left he would have introduced himself and invited you back. This is what is lacking in most restaurants these days. It is called the ""hospitality industry"" for a reason. Chris trated the Metropolitan as if he owned the place, and truly treated all of his guests as people not just a number. On the other hand the older female manager they have has been there for several years and has yet to introduce herself and I have been coming in several time a week for years. Well all that has ended now. Good luck Chris, wherever you end up will be extremely lucky to have you. Maybe you should open a place of you own. Cons: current management treats you like a number, female manager rude more

Metro - Best spot in Cleveland 4/11/2006

This place is wonderful; from the delicious food to the knowledable and curtious staff. I love every experience I have had at the metropolitan! more

Eh. 9/15/2005

I found the food to be decent but not particularly innovating or interesting. This is a decent restaurant to go to downtown, though I believe the prices are far too high for the quality of the menu. more

Overpriced 9/12/2005

This place is way over priced. The food was not worth the high price. Cons: expensive, blah food more

This place was amazing! The atmosphere was great, the service was exceptional, we were promptly seated (we had a reservation), answering all questions we had about the menu. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were large and the asparagus was really good, too. more

sometimes good, sometimes bad 8/16/2005

Sometimes I got a great meal and other times I had a horrible meal. I had bad fish, bad lobster tail and a handful of times my filet has been way over cooked. on the other hand I had great service everytime but once. more

WOW! 1/19/2005

Had dinner last night at the Metropolitan Cafe and was very impressed. There was a decent crowd for a Wednesday night, but it was perfect for a dinner meeting. I had the Filet and Crab Cake ($24.95) and was exteremly impressed. They are a part of the Hype Park group so they serve the best meat on the market. You could almost cut the filet with a fork. The crab cake was very different then I've had before, and probably the best. The veggies served with the meal were also very unique and delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Pros: Great food, Great service more

Oysters and Guinness 5/16/2002

The Metropolitan competes only with Blue Pointe, its neighbor across the street, for the best fresh oyster plates in the city. There are at least four varieties of oysters on the halfshell offered daily, served by the half dozen or the dozen (but you may want to order even more); your server will be able to tell you where they're from and whether they're briny, mild or sweet -- as well as which beverage to enjoy with each type. Happily, one of those beverages can be Guinness, a perfect accompaniment even though they serve it only by the can. more
