Great garage 8/7/2007

My wife and I recently bought a used car, and within a few days we were getting problems with the gears. Bob MacKinnon was able to take it in on very short notice and was able to spot a variety of problems. Based on his report we were able to get a full refund from the seller on this complete 'lemon'. Moreover, he only charged us $20! A straightforward decent guy. We would happily recommend to anyone! more

Way Over-Priced 2/6/2007

This is the only auto repair shop near Harvard, so they pretty much have a little monopoly. And they exploit it. I came in with a check engine light on, and just to look at the car, they charged me $90.00. I had a radiator leak and they offered to replace the radiator for $800. I looked online and my model's radiator costs $120. So they were asking for $680 in labor. They are a ripoff. more

Great Service and not trying to rip youoff 8/17/2005

I took my car to Macs for some repairs after a friend had good experiences there. They looked all over my car for the rattles I heard and ended up lubing a few places, which took car of the rattles. They also tested all of the suspension parts and brakes at very little charge. There's something nice about having a neighborhood mechanic you can trust. There's a 20% coupon off your first visit on their website. more

Nice place 8/14/2005

It is hard to find a garage that will be trust worthy when getting your car repaired. I found this place to be a decent auto shop, with staff that seem to be professionals. I am not sure if they can repair all types of cars, so you might want to call ahead and ask them. The prices seem to be average. more

Mac Kinnon always helpful 9/24/2004

The guys at Mac Kinnon are really helpful. I've taken my car there a few times and just took my sister's car. For her they told me to take it to the Honda dealer where it would be cheaper for them to run a computer test than for them to do it at Mac Kinnon. Imagine that--an honest auto mechanic! more

Honest, friendly, and usually-not-condescending auto mechanics 9/24/2004

On Remington St. (a one-way from Harvard St. to Mass Ave.), Mackinnon Motors is a great local auto garage. You'll get honest, reliable service and they'll tell you to go somewhere else (e.g., the dealer) if you're probably is better serviced by someone else. more
