Lonnie's did a great job working on my truck.. I had just gotten it out of the shop from being painted and needed some regular tune-ups. I was worried about my paint but it was taken care of perfectly. Not a Scratch!!! more

I have visited Lonnie's a few times, and every time they have given me a fare price. Each time they've fixed my car quickly. I'll be back.\r \r I went to Lonnies for a new front head light, and knew that the bulb might be hard to get. They had a bulb on-site, and fixed it on the spot. Thanks again. The service was incredible.\r \r If you want your car to be fixed without having to wait for days, like some other garages, go to Lonnies. There knowledge and prices can't be beat. Pros: Knowledgable and helpful staff more

Best Shop in Durham 6/8/2010

I am a college student at UNCW but I live right next to Durham. Every time I have trouble with my car I bring it to Lonnie's just because they always know what they are doing and always get it fixed at a price cheaper than anyone else. They are fast and the guys in the office always keep me up to date on whats going on with my vehicle and ask me before doing any work. Last time I took my Chevrolet Cavalier into Lonnie's for an oil change they made sure my car was clean from grease and I even waited in the office while they did it. The time before that my window stopped working and I had to get the window motor replaced. Every other shop I called wanted to charge about $75.00 more than Lonnie's because they said they had to replace the regulator too but I had it done at Lonnie's and it has worked great ever since and that was over 2 years ago. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the Durham area or even in the Raleigh area especially girls and grads who don't know about cars and don't want to overpay. I know I'll be taking my car there in the future and if your smart and take my advice then you'll take your car there next time too. Pros: Fast, Reliable, and Cheap more

Do NOT use this garage 6/1/2010

Do not use Lonnie's Auto Center. They overcharged me for an oil change (50$) and then gave me a very high estimate on the repairs which needed to be done to my car. Additionally, they wanted to do lots of work to the car which was not necessary. Had I done all of the things that they suggested, they would have changed me about 2000$ for a car that is worth about as much. Furthermore, when I went to pick up my car, I noticed a LARGE DENT on the front fender which had not been there before. While my car sat there over the weekend (I had been unable to pick it up) a piece of wood fell off the building and damaged my car. Lonnie DID NOT call me about the damage done to my car, nor did he offer to give me the oil change for free. I felt that this garage was trying to take advantage of me as a graduate student who does not know much about cars. Cons: Damaged my car, High Prices more

I've heard a lot about Lonnie's - I have coworkers who've brought their cars to them for years. I recently had them replace a heater box, which is an all-day job that involves removing the dashboard. Tommy, the mechanic, phoned me in the middle of the repair to ask me if I wanted a new heater core installed at the same time. Notice I said ""ask""... without being pushy, he explained that it was a good idea because of the mileage on the vehicle and the fact that replacing the core if it went bad would involve pulling the dashboard yet again. In other words, spend $70 now or risk having to spend $600 later. Having experienced and replaced a leaking heater core in another (much easier to repair) vehicle, I told him to go ahead. \r Not only did Tommy detail my dashboard when he was finished, he also noticed and fixed a loose strip on the driver's side floor pan that had been troubling me for years. He did this free of charge and without me asking him. I would definitely return to Lonnie's and would recommend them to anyone. more
