ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. My two year old daughter went here for 6 months and it was a terrible experience we took her out of here and put her in a new daycare and she has been thriving ever since then. She was coming home every single day with random bruises, cuts and scratches. Not just little cuts and scratches, big cuts and big scratches. One her face, body, back, stomach etc... The teachers would have NO explaination for how they happened and would act surprised when I mentioned it to them. My daughter was speech delayed so she was not able to articulate to me what was going on which did not help the situation. She would be picked up on multiple occasions with soaking wet diapers, dirty diapers that she had been sitting in for so long that she would get terrible diaper rashes. She was neglected to say the least. I would HIGHLY recommend not sending your child there. I made multiple complaints to the highest person in charge about the terrible mistreatment my daughter was receiving and she was very nice about it, I will say that. Once we switched my daughter schools she has not came with one single bruise, cut, scratch or dirty/wet diaper. Every time I pick her up she is in a perfectly dry diaper. more

I would recommend this location to any of my friends and family! I'm a first time mother, child care was new to me as a whole. I had no clue that tution was as expensive as it is, that has really been my only adjustment. But what I can say about this location is that I really have witnessed my child strive!!! She's now 3 years old, and has gone here since March of 2012, when she was 1 1/2. She absolutley loves it!!! The curriculum as well as her classmates and teachers!! She comes home everyday with a new song about washing hands, being friends, and most recently about the colors of the stop lights!!! Her teachers that she's had past and present have all been really hands on and one on one. The fear I had of daycare was that my daughter would just be a ""number"", that she would just be another child. But ALL the teachers throughtout know EVERY child by name, even not being in that particular class!!!! It warms my heart to know that just as much as my child loves coming everyday, the teachers look forward to her being there!!!! more

I would recommend. The ladies there really care about the kids. They got a tough job but show a ton of patience and understanding. My son is very challenging but they NEVER gave me any indication they wanted to give up and wanted him out. Ms. Yvonne, Ms. Mandi and Ms. Darielle are the best. I just love seeing them every day. more

Great Place 7/10/2011

I have had my son in La Petite Academy for almost 2 years now. We first had him in an in home daycare which was pretty good but we moved so we had to find another place for him. We moved to Raytown and found a daycare center which was pretty cheap but not worth saving a few bucks. We decided to put him in La Petite because he was right across from where I work. I am so glad that we did. All of the teachers there know his name and genuinely care about him. He has learned so much there and I could definately see the differences between the previous daycare to La Petite. His whole demeanor is different and that is because of the staff that work there. I would highly recommend La Petite to others. more

I think this is a great place! 3/4/2010

I am stunned by the 'one star' review that was left - I wouldn't give this daycare one star by any means. It is so nice to be able to drop off my children, go to work, and not have to worry about them! I looked at different daycares around the area and chose this one despite of the longer commute for me for a couple of reasons. Pros: Educated teachers, Nice management Cons: Far from home more

Best school in Kansas 2/25/2010

As a mother of 4 and working in Early Education for 10 years. I truely believe that this is the most outstanding school in Overland Park. From the curriculum to the staff this school is 5 stars all the way! Pros: Amazing well educated teachers more

NOT RECOMMENDED! 12/16/2009

I am sorry to say but I would not recommend this daycare to anyone. They have no structure and the staff changes every month. So does their rules. I don't even want to give them a star... Problem # 1. THE RULES CHANGE EVERY WEEK One day you can sign a form (long term) for you child to have, say, Tylenol when needed - (oh yes Orajel too..which are not prescription drugs) and then the teachers don't get informed and they refuse to give your child needed medicine, because it is not on his daily sheet?? Come on - is it so hard to go to the front desk to check the child's records? Or to call the parent and let them know your child needs it? Problem #2. MISSCOMMUNICATION BETWEEN STAFF All though you leave all your contact information at the front desk with your child's files including Emergency contact numbers.. They will call your home and leave a message!!!! My child had a fever of 102 - they did not look for my cell number, they did not look for my husband's work number - they left a message at home. Working parents will not get this message if they are not home - dont they know this? Do they even really care about our children or are they just there to earn their weekly wages? Problem # 3. INDIFFERENT TO YOUR CHILD'S WELLFARE They will let the child walk around - hands and feet cold like icicles. I often pick up my child and he's toes are freezing - Shoes and socks are in his cubby. 2 sets of spare clothes and a jacket. Problem #4. NO STRUCTURE They dont have a ""transition room"" your child will go from Infant room to toddler room without a transitioning period. So he will be with the newborns up to 10 months for the first year of his life, then BAM into the toddler room where they are running around (like children do). But there is no structure - how will they learn to eat from a table/plate or drink from a sippy cup and then from a real cup? These little things all add up. At first he/she will not have any friends of his/her own age, then he gets put in with the older kids? HUH? I ask you how that works. The infants will get most of the attention anyway.. so your child who would soon become a young toddler will get the least attention. Because he/she can now play by him/herself. No. Im afraid this is no loving and safe environment. Problem # 4. SAFETY I also witnessed a little girl.. just learning to sit.. fall backwards onto the hard tiled floor, from sitting on the edge of the playmat.. the teachers were pre-occupied with their own things and did not even notice this - I saw it happen in slow motion and with a loud THUD on the floor, if i did not have my child in my hands I would have saved her from falling. The teachers are RIGHT THERE!! Are 3 kids per teacher too much to handle? Where are your attention - it should be with the children. Problem #5. HYGIENE They don't wear plastic gloves when feeding the kids - my kid has been sick more times than I can count. They don't wipe nosies to avoid contamination and complain to parents when kids are sick, asif it is our fault. Problem #6. STAFF CHANGES MONTHLY Almost every month they have new teachers starting (8months pregnant none the less - so yes they will have to leave anyway) and new Management comes along with new rules and new ideas - its a never ending battle with them. They don't communicate with their staff about rules and updates or changes so no one knows what is going on in that place. One person will tell you something, then the other person will tell you different. Well.. i can go on and on.. but these are the issues I am having.. and hopefully for not much longer. God bless and good luck! Pros: Not much, its just convenient Cons: No structure, Staff/Managers changes once a month more
