Best

comfortable place to sit and chat on weekdays. Weekends you need to be alittle louder if you want to talk over the music. The beer is great, always cold and the shots of Jameson...

Worst

They have this perv dressed up like a leprechaun that was dry humping the light post out front. Security is also less than friendly. Atmosphere was ok, nothing special. Bars on...

nice place, but beware of the owner 1/24/2011

Overall a nice place, they have my favorite cider Strongbow on draft, plus they know how to poor Guiness correctly. Bartenders and bouncers are very nice and friendly. Most are musicians themselves. Occasionally some decent live music. The only major concern is the owner, who needs to take some anger management classes and stop physically assaulting his clients (or refrain from drinking so much hard liquor). If not for unruly owner, would give 4 stars more

Good beer, nice view, bartenders who remember your name... 1/24/2007

comfortable place to sit and chat on weekdays. Weekends you need to be alittle louder if you want to talk over the music. The beer is great, always cold and the shots of Jameson fill the glass to the curve. Bartenders are friendly and give good head...on the beer. the music is usually a solo act but a good one at that. Pros: drink specials (liters for $5 on weds nites) Cons: parking, but that's anywhere more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Located above the Green Iguana on the Seventh Avenue strip, the James Joyce is reachable by elevator or a mountainous staircase. It's a good thing you were going there for a drink in the first place, because you'll need one when you reach the top.

    The Vibe
JJIP has everything you should expect from an Irish pub: a long bar, tall tables, couches, and dartboards. Stepping in can feel like you're departing Ybor City, next stop Dublin--which can be a welcome change from the densely crowded, overlit strip.
